How important is it to have keyword in domain name?

I have a plan to build a website...

Let us say that I want good rankings in these keywords:

topic1keyword
topic2keyword
topic3keyword
topic4keyword
topic5keyword

Is it best to having several domains with their keywords and which is linked to a main domain? (Alternative A, see below)

Or having an only domain, and other pages in this domain? (Alternative B, see below)

Also

Example

A)
mainhomepage.com
mainhomepage.com/topic1keyword
mainhomepage.com/topic2keyword
mainhomepage.com/topic3keyword
mainhomepage.com/topic4keyword
mainhomepage.com/topic5keyword

or

B)

mainhomepage.com

topic1keyword.com
topic2keyword.com
topic3keyword.com
topic4keyword.com
topic5keyword.com

Where there is links to each other websites so that you can navigate from one to other sites like it was an only website (also navigating is easy like it is in alternative A)

Which alternative is best to rank on these keywords? A or B?

        Yes, that's what I mean.

I think the advantage in B) is that keyword in domain name is more SEO friendly than keyword in just in the URL.

But the advantage in A) is that a lot of backlink to whole domain will have a positive effect in all niche sections on the website, and it's easier to build domain authority of one domain than to build domain authority of several different domains.

And that it is easier to manage and get links to one domain (A), than to manage and backlink to several different domains/websites (B).

But I'm not a SEO expert, (I know just some basics), and so I'll ask the SEO experts what is the best when to build some several niche sites?

        A)
        mysite.com/mykeyword1
        mysite.com/mykeyword2
        mysite.com/mykeyword3

        or

        B)
        mykeyword1.com
        mykeyword2.com
        mykeyword3.com

@iAmNameLess: I know that this is not the only SEO factor. Keyword Resarch, back links, etc. etc. has a role in SEO.

But you know that in theory, when we study a variable and its effect, so we assume that "everything else being equal." (and in this case, contents, links, quality of website, etc. etc.).

    mykeyword.com definitely.

Proper keyword research will be able to give you a better idea. You probably COULD rank for each keyword on your domain, you just will have to back link each page, get those backlinks and you will be fine.

I'm curious about this too. Both my site and my client's site do NOT have EMDs. Mine is my farm name, but my keywords are "organic gardening" and related (super competitive). My client's is a real estate company, but they don't have real estate in their name. I know this is not ideal, but it's done, and I'm not sure what I'd do to change it.

Second, I'm thinking along the lines of "Dave's Garden" davesgarden.com which granted, has the word "garden" in it, and it's been around for quite some time, but it's not exactly an EMD, you know? I guess it's the site's longevity and insanely rich content that's got them where they are. I want to be that kind of site, and I'm hoping my hard work and tips I learn around the SEO arena will help with that. It's a good question as to whether it makes sense to have an EMD that perhaps redirects to my farm site? Or are redirects lame?

    Helpity, help help!
