So I did a specific keyword search. . . And then clicked on the number 1 website. The keyword was NOWHERE in the content. . . And then I viewed the source code for the page.. again. . . nowhere.

Say (for pretend) I searched keyword phrase. . . "eat fun". And the number one ranking was a website called www.---for-instance---.com. This site contains the keyword phrase nowhere, nor in the code? How did this website obtain the best pr?

You can rank a site with zero content, nothing on the page, with enough anchored backlinks with the keyword as anchor text. I've seen it before and I've actually had it happen before, by accident. I remember Oz did this at one point with a competitive keyword but I forgot what it was.

It has something to do with the quantity and the quality of the backlinks.
