Why'd my Position Drop?

I'm currently using the Google Sniper 2 technique and I setup the site like he describes with all of the WordPress SEO-related plug-ins. After the first day I was on top of the 7th page. I know this is terrible, but it gave me hope that I can push my way up there.

After a few days my ranking dropped into nothing-ness.

The keyword is "weaning puppies" and the domain is the keyword put together plus a .org (the forum isn't letting me post links yet).

I'm not so concerned with success here as I am with understanding why this happened. I want to further my knowledge of how PageRanks work and how Google decides where to position your listing.

What made Google change its mind about my position?

    simply because your method is overused. Make sure you create you own linkbuilding plan and not just copy the exact technique. Improving the technique will do.

      Hi Eric,

      What you experienced is typical and is caused by a feature in Google that is known as QDF (Query Deserves Freshness). This feature pushes fresh new content towards the top of the search results for a brief period of time. After a short while this freshness factor wears off and your page will sink to its' current earned position.

      Now it is time to go out and earn the higher rankings by using solid promotional techniques.

    How new is your site?

    Sometimes, I see new sites 'dancing' around the serps and they'll eventually settle. If you've gone aggressive on technique, you might have been flagged and penalised.

    Just be patient - if nothing comes back within 2 weeks go through backlinks and clean it up.

      Thanks for the replies everyone. My site is brand new, so the "dancing" described above is probably what's going on.

    May be it is affected by Google Algorithm changing. Some of my hubpages article also drop the ranking just like you too.

    That means this Google Sniper 2 technique ain't that effective after Google's update last February 2011.
