Custom channels is a way to help track how your Adsense is performing.

  Custom channels do a tad more than that. It allows your sites to
  be targeted by advertisers. Give it a great name and description,
  so advertisers can find it. Anything thing that gets more bidders on
  your site will help to increase your income.

  Now that right there is pretty intriguing, sounds somewhat like facebooks model for advertising..
  
  The question is, does that help increase the CPC for your keywords in general?
  or does that only increase the keywords on your site only?
