Is anyone using CloakPig v2 or Pretty Link Pro WP plugins?

CloakPig v2 is a competitor of Pretty Link Pro. I've been trying to decide which is better. Anyone using either of these, or preferably have both, and can compare/contrast? Thanks.

For those unfamiliar with either one, these are link cloaking plugins for Wordpress v3.x. They are designed to rewrite your affiliate link to something that looks like its local to your domain, then redirects to the sales site upon clicking. Also provides stats, so it's better than a hard-coded php redirect.

Wow, that's a new one on me. I just watched the video on his site. I see he's using it in WP 3.0.4 in his demo site, but he doesn't say if it works in WP 3.1 multisite. His program seems to be setup to manually create links, which is fine, but I'm more interested in a link cloaker that dynamically generates links.

I'm also looking at Eclipse Link Cloaker. That also sounds like a good possibility, and at less cost than Pretty Link Pro.

        Hi MarketingTorch,

would you like to try CloakPiG for free and let me know what you think? I am confident you'll find it to be the most automated link cloaker out there - truly set and forget, if that is how you want to run it.

PM me and I'll sort you out with a license :-)

          Very cool.

I can't PM yet, but you could PM me an email to reply to.

Quick question, though. I'm using WP 3.1 Multisite. Any issues there before installing? Thanks.

I have it installed on two domains now - one running WordPress 3.1 and the other running the WP3.1 MultiSite version. Working great! Just "Network Activate" it and it automatically shows up in each subdomain sites' admin screen. Then just go into the plugin's options menu, scroll down to Link Cloaking and make sure Enable is selected, then click Save. Everything else is optional. At this point, the plugin will run on autopilot!

I'm enjoying the reporting it provides at the bottom of the plugin screen that shows what's getting clicked and how many times. Sort of a link popularity contest going on there. Also fully editable.

As far as dynamically generated external links, I have found that it does not cloak Google AdSense, ClickBank or Feedjit links running from widget javascripts. However, static textlinks to things like CPA offers from MaxBounty cloak just fine.

Thank you, BlogPiG, for making this excellent plugin and now that I've posted my review I hope you'll let me keep using it!

            Hi All,

I am interested in getting this as well but am trying to figure out if you can make it cloak the widget javascripts you mentioned above? I use some different dynamic affiliate ad generating plugins on different blogs, and most are in the widget form. Any one have any additional info on this aspect?

Or any other cloaking/masking plugins that will do it automatically?

            Thanks Gary and everyone,

              Hi Chris,
I was not able to make it cloak javascript-generated links. I have it set to cloak "everything", and what that translates to is: it cloaks most links but not all. On the other hand, neither does their closest competition, Eclipse Link Cloaker. It seems that the plugin does not have access to the links before they are displayed. Therefore, it cannot dynamically cloak them. I don't know of any plugin that will cloak Google Adsense, for example. Widgets which always display the same links will cloak, no problem, but widgets that dynamically generate links will not cloak with the current version. It may not be technologically feasible due to the order of precedence of how WordPress renders the page in the browser.

Hi Rupert, I know the answer to this. They'll do that for you on the BlogPig website if you'll send them a note requesting it.

A violation of terms thru Clickbank was the reply I got on the buy page.

What!?! A BlogPiG product is guilty of violating CB terms of service and has been shut down!

          Nope...

What link did you try and purchase it through?

When you make a clickbank product inactive in admin as we sometimes do when special offers end any links to the clickbank shopping cart come with this standard phrase:

"This product is inactive and no longer for sale. This product is no longer for sale or has been disabled due to a terms of service violation."

          That's simply what you saw.

How come you chose not to mention the "product is inactive" part or the two mentions of "no longer for sale" and decided to post on Warrior only the "violation of terms" bit?

I guess it does make for a more dramatic post

Yeah, I only posted the juicy part.

I have heard great things about your products, so I was having a look on your site (thats where I clicked the link)

I will send you a note thru the website as I would be interested in the discount as opposed to the 7-day trial thing. Wheres the email contact?

Didn't mean to make you look shady or anything

Can you use the links in an ebook? Just like for the website, only putting the link in an ebook that goes along with the site.

Sure you can. You just lose some of the automation.

I'm assuming you mean a PDF ebook? Then you would just create the links manually in CloakPiG and then use the cloaked versions in your ebook before publishing.

I'm probably not the one you wanted to answer this

I haven't used the product mentioned. Does it:

      - automatically cloak URLs as you enter them in your posts (or autoposts)
      - never change the content of your posts so can be removed at any time.
      - cloak image paths for remotely hosted images to prevent footprints
      - get you more traffic from Google Images (coming soon in 2.2)
      - Automatically turn keywords to affiliate URLs in all past, present & future posts
      - Automatically grow the keyword lists
      - Increase your commissions
      - Track hits on links
      - Comes with legendary support
      - Has PiG in the product name!

If it does all that and more then it is better than CloakPiG 2.1 but we're just getting started

That is what I was thinking too. Thought it would be worth asking though. On one blog I'm using a Clickbank ad generator widget, and the links look terrible when you hover over them! Guess I won't worry about it!
