I agree that Perry Marshall is considered to be an authority on PPC advertising. I own a copy of his ebook and it is very good. The main thing about PPC is that you can lose a lot of money with it if you are not very careful. I suggest starting with a daily budget that you can afford and watch to see if you are getting the results you want for the money you're spending.

Commission Blueprint had a lot of good information, and I think that's still being offered. But in general I agree with a couple of comments made above that the place to start is definitely Google's own Adwords learning center, not to mention free forums like this one that have a ton of posts on this topic.

  • In my opinion it is not a good idea to start PPC advertising with Google Adwords. It is extremely difficult to setup profitable campaigns if you are inexperienced.

Google currently gets about 60% of all searches but is extremely competitive and has a much stricter policy on landing pages and affiliate offers.

I have found that it is much easier to make a profit as an affiliate marketer with other PPC Networks.

        Hi rcm3rd

One of the best places to learn about PPC is Google's AdWords Learning Center. Most things you learn there can be applied to any network.

I would start there, master what you learn there and then move to more advanced training. Nothing will compare to actually jumping in and learning first hand by running a real campaign with your own money on the line.

I find that by going contrary to Perry Marshall's advice, I have had much more success.

Everyone is saying that you need to have your ads to 'Rotate' (each showing an equal amount of the time). That's either a whole lot of bollocks or lies. You only set your Ad Serving to 'Rotate' once your Quality Score is 'Great'. Before that, go with 'Optimized' to get the higher CTR all the time.

Think about it, your ads which are garnering greater CTR are showing more often, you get a greater Quality Score. Only then, do you put it to 'Rotate' to split-test your ads. Your aim in the beginning is to get a high Quality Score.

Oh, and the Mind Valley Labs guys' advice trump Perry Marshall's advice anytime. If you want beginner advice, start with Adwords Help.

            Thanks Fabian.

This tip is really killer. When you think about it logically what you are saying is obviously right and yet hardly anyone teaches it that way.

I'm going to make this change in my campaigns.

      Hey All,

I'm admittedly biased toward Perry Marshall's training program, since I am a student of his instruction on PPC (open-disclosure!)--his Adwords book is a great and inexpensive place to start.

As and aside, I think Perry is not only a good PPC teacher, but a smart marketer as well.

MindValley, as someone mentioned, looks like it has some good material, too. I've reviewed their products and they seem to know what's going on. I don't know what your budget is, but you can take a look at their products.

I'm sure you'll find good PPC instruction on WF, too, and PPC Coach gets some good plugs around here--although I havent' personally used them.

      Good luck!

There are two sources that I would reccomend for PPC training.

    1. PPC Classroom 2 is great because they lay out everthing you need to know in a step by step format. Also I like learning through videos and they have a quiz system so you actually read the material and then test your self to see if you really understand their material.

2 Beating Adwords is a great ebook by the wealth affiliates. It helped me out alot when i first started using PPC. They get into some pretty advance strategies. This book can help you alot.

Those are the 2 sources I would recommend for anyone to get started.
