Hey,

Quick question:

I have some of my specific keywords showing up in the keyword list in Google analytics search traffic results.

We also have an adwords campaign running.

My question is does the keywords from that adwords campaign show up in our google analytics resluts. We are sending the traffic to a squeeze page which does have the code on it.

The reason I ask is because we are also doing work on our blog for the same keywords and I don't know which are which.

Thanks

Brandon

you should look at the source. if it says organic that means its not from ppc. If its from ppc thats the one from adwords.

    Hey Webcosmo,

Yes..that is under the sources section.

What I'm looking at is the keywords section. The visits that came from specific keywords....did they come from adwords or organic? Are you even able to tell?

    Thanks,

In the upper right corner there is a dropdown menu called Advanced Segments. Experiment with that while you are viewing Keyword traffic sources.

For example, click the dropdown and uncheck All Visits and check just Paid Search Traffic. Now your keyword list is limited to Adwords.

Or, check both Paid and Non-paid. You'll see separate counts for both in the same list. -- Patey88

Is this a stupid question? I just want to be able to tell if our SEO strategy is working.

    Cheers!

I think this situation proves it may be a good idea to create a completely different page for PPC and another one for SEO.

    Hey JR,

Would that separate the keywords though? Let's say I had traffic from the keyword "Internet marketing" from adwords but I also had traffic from the same keyword but organically. Would having different pages separate the two?

    Thanks

I think it is combined into the keywords in GA. You can a make a profile that excludes them.

Could probably be used as a starting point to setup a profile that excludes the adwords clicks as well.

    Hey Patey,

Thanks for the advice!! I didn't know about the advanced segments option. The traffic is 100% organic which means we are hitting our keywords.

    Thanks again for the help!
