Hello warriors,

I'm pretty new, but I have just got my website up (bar a few wrinkles to iron out). Are there any (free) programs or the likes to get an idea of how to improve my on-site seo a bit more from the get-go. So, as I add all these articles I have and build traffic that the search engines see me, and more importantly favour me more so than non-optimised competitors.

All the best,

Ben G.

First all the basic on page optimization work for your website, use basic html tags for optimizing it. Then start building backlinks for your site. It is better to focus on long tail keywords initially for your site.

I just made a test and a review about SeoPressor by Daniel Tan.

It is pretty good, it gives you a list on the side about all the important on-page SEO factors for your wordpress posts, like H tags, image tags, links, keyword density etc.

My review above is also a test how well i will rank for "seopressor" with this review. Right now, about 20 hrs after i put the review up, Market Samurai says i am on position #8, but i didnt really do any link building yet.

    Looking good to me.

by the way, daniel tan has some REALLY good SEO WSOs out, read them! It's gold. I have to admit that i thought Google doesnt give on-page SEO that much weight anymore, but it looks i am wrong.

There is a bit of talk about wordpress, maybe I am going blind but I don't see the OP mention WP anywhere.
On-site SEO is pretty straight forward and if you use and utilise the html tags correctly, such as alt and title values then you will be ok. Also use H1 and H2 tags, bold keywords in the content, etc.
Just remember to make sure your site is still visually appealing and easy on the eye for your human visitors and not just the spiders. Good luck.

    Yes,

i forgot to say you NEED to use a decent theme because not all themes have good seo. Many free themes use the BLOG title as H1 tag which is very bad if you blog title is not important. I have to mod such themes all the time.
