Ok...what's the issue with using .info's

I hear a lot to stay away from .info's...

I would like to give the try...due to some experaments I want to try...

Do .info's not rank as well as .com's

    It's worth looking at this little post from SEO Book about an issue with .info domains a while ago:

    However, generally speaking I think the .info domain has been taken over by spammers. Real companies (and the consumers that visit them) still prefer .com, .org, .net or local TLDs.

    I can't say that the rumours about info being penalised are true or not, but I wouldn't be surprised if someone could produce a study showing average CTRs on .info results in the SERPs are lower.

      I will just tell you my personal experience. I bought a .info to see how well it ranks as well for a pretty easy keyword. It was exact match and I was able to rank #1. It bounces from 1-3 positions after the Google dance (due to backlinking) but the point is that it did reach #1. I think if you do what you would normally do with a .com domain and build enough backlinks, you could rank .info just as good as .coms It just needs to be a quality site and have good onpage and offpage seo done.

    I have a few .info's and haven't noticed any difference in ranking as opposed to the other extensions. From a SEO standpoint I believe they are similar in value.

    I don't know about SEO, but your click through rate will be a lot lower on a .info so never use them in paid traffic scenarios where the user sees the destination URL

    I've never tested .info myself, and probably most of the people that comment haven't tested either...So go ahead and test.

    But the theory is, since .info's are so cheap that they have been abused by SEOers, therefore the engines have downgraded them.

    Whether that's true or not doesn't matter in some respects...What matters is that many believe it to be true. Where this matters is if you ever want to sell the domain. It doesn't matter if .info's are downgraded or not, as many people believe it to be true, therefore if you ever try to sell a .info, you probably won't be able to sell it for as much as a .com, .net or .org domain, assuming everything else is equal.

    In my experience used .info domain, i think .info domain not difficult to rank. My several site now at 1st page google. It`s depend on your SEO and On Page factor

    Probably just not that accepted yet.

    You can always add words like 'group' or 'team' to the end of your desired .com

    Nobody can really tell you if they work or not very well. Only Google can tell you that, but they wont do it. Do some private tests and see what results you get when trying to rank a .info and same compition as the .com domain etc. Then you can compare both tld's and see what give you best results etc.
