Same Color Hyperlinks -- Dangerous for SEO?

I'm not sure what "SEO Smart Links" is, but the flow doesn't sound right to me?

When setting up a silo the category one-way-links to the article, then the internal link on the article links to the next relevent article & so on...

Yes, you can have to many internal links on a page. Think of your article page as a bucket full of water, every internal link on that article page (bucket) is a small hole that leaks authority/PR. nly internal link If it makes sense to link to the next page.

My rule is only internal link anchor-text on the article page, If the target page for the anchor-text has that same keyword in the Page-Title.

Imagine you have a category called

Dog Food

You have a nice article on it, 750 words.

Then you have some other articles on the site

Cheap Dog Food
Organic Dog Food
Puppy Dog Food

SEO Smart Links is a plugin that enables mentionings of "dog food" in those articles to automatically link to their category, which is the Dog Food article, thus pushing PR to the Dog Food category.

That is what I meant.

I am not doing "silos" as in chaining pages. The SEO Smart Links plugin basically interlinks the hell out of stuff

Still the plugin sounds backwards to me.

You should be building internal links to related articles/pages, a category page doesn't really have a lot of content, just hyperlinks to all the other related pages which isn't the same thing as what wikipedia is doing (targeted keyword internal pages).

Like already said, look at how wikipedia does their internal linking, which is the same as what I was trying to say in my first post.

Wikipedia does a good job (most times) about internal linking, notice how they use similar words for the same subject (car, auto, automobile, vehicle, etc...) they have the same meaning (which is good practice).

The also use a lot of content jump-links (internal links on the same page), example 9 Driverless cars , watch how that hyperlink jumps directly to that specific section of the page.

And what are your guys' thoughts on using Dark Gray hyperlinks on black text? So they wont be so ugly. Does G not like that?

Make the hyperlink any color/shade you want, whatever you think looks good.

Google knows how many URLs are on a page without a human review, any software can be made to count hyperlinks (http://).

As far as links virutally the same color as text around them -- I thought maybe G might frown on it as it gains teh benefits of SEO but doesn't really give the users as much navigational freedom as bright blue links.. as many people might not notice it. That was all I was asking

AS far as the silos, I think we're just talking about different ways to skin cat.

SEO Smart links isn't really a siloing plugin, its just an interlinking thing -- check it out..

..but it can be used in that fashion.

Category pages, in my book, can have content AND a series of navigational links to the articles that support them.
