Adding forum to my site?

Hey i was thinking:
i installed wordpress in my site as my main page

can i install forum there as well?
like: mysite.com/forum/

is that possible and can this be benefitial?
my target is not to make 1-3 keyword site
my target is to conquer the whole niche, couple of hundreds keywords.
i know this may be a dream, but i keep doing it for couple of years and i really want to give something to visitors so they want to come back.

Im thinking big!

Absolutely, all you would have to do is just add the forum script and direct it to that folder. Pretty straight forward and easy to do.

It is possible and easy to add a forum to your web site in a /forums folder (or anywhere you want really.

Do some research though, managing forums and making them popular takes a lot more work than simply driving some traffic to them.

i can install forum thru fantasico easily right?
but how can i make it to direct from my main page to forum?
when i want to add the forum link to the same bar where my page's are...not posts...
is this possible? to redirect page to forum?

You can certainly install your forum through fantastico if you use a free script such as Simple Machines Forum. Then you have the url www.mydomain.com/forum

To redirect the page or post to theforum url, there are plugins that will do this. Here's one that works well - WordPress › Quick Page/Post Redirect « WordPress Plugins Make a page for your menu bar, and use the plugin to redirect that page to your forum url.
