I'm more most of you still remember their latest algorithm change which only happend at the end of the last month. If you weren't reading my blog when this happend, then you should of still heard about it, but if not, I'll quickly re-cap.

Google basically made an update to remove content farms, plain and simple, that was the sole goal, because let's face it, content farms are full of spam, Google don't want spam hogging up the first page, so by removing content farms from ranking well, Google have basically re-ordered the whole worlds SERPs.

The search engine is trying to reward websites with high quality unique content, it's obvious and simple and check out this quote from Matt Cutts (During an interview)

We've not only launched this change, but we're looking forward through the rest of the year at other changes we can make to try to improve search quality.
There is definitely still room for improvement in the space of low-quality content -- or in trying to reward higher-quality content.
So it doesn't look like Google are planning on stopping with these changes! Google are said to be very happy with the results from the previous algorithm change, which was called "Panda", let's see what their next changes will bring us.

Keep in mind the engineers at Google are pretty much constantly tweaking the search algorithm. This doesn't mean there will be another major change like this last one any time soon.

Isn't there something like 400 Google algo tweaks per year? So yep, I'd expect more changes soon... daily, in-fact

But as for bigger updates: yep, I'd imagine so. There was talk of a new layer on-top of the Panda update, which I guess would count as a fairly big change.

Also Google were talking of backlink algo-related changes in January and whilst there was a small update with regards to how Google trust links, I still think that a bigger backlink-related algo change is on the way.

You mention a bigger backlink-related algo change.. What makes you say that? in other words - any sources?

my takeaway thoughts from these google changes is 1. place keyword focused original content on your own site 2. learn and implement every "non google seo" traffic method and 3. build a list - google cant take your list!!
