Changing Keywords in Blog Titles

Hi all, I have a couple of blogs which I have spent some time on. However, when I did the original keyword research when I first started them, I made the classic rookie mistake of searching on Broad Match rather than Exact.

As you can probably guess, now that I have run a check using Exact Match, the keywords targetted in my posts are now really poor! Would it be worth changing the blog posts titles (and tags) to titles with better keywords I've now found?

I don't really want to bin these blogs as they are otherwise quite established and getting quite a few sign ups each week.

Thanks for your thoughts!

Probably better to make new posts with the new keywords you have found. Especially if you are getting traffic and signups.

It is good to have lots of pages no your site and making some more with additional keyword phrases sounds like it would serve you well.

If there are a few particular older posts which you know could benefit from a fresh set of keywords, go for it. But don't waste time going through all your old blog posts and tweaking them - your time is better spent writing new posts using the new keywords.

Thanks both. I think I will do a combination of both- write fresh posts and articles for the new keywords and tweak some of the better older posts which are more specialised.

Thanks for your input, much appreciated.

use google webmaster tools and check the pages that are ranked higher...chose the first 20, change their titles to match the good keywords you've found and make your new posts have these new keywords.

i have a forum...i was ranking like 6th for this keyword "reset kaspersky" but realised "kaspersky trial reset" has more traffic, more competition. so i just added the "kaspersky trail reset" to my old title...now i'm ranking about 12th. for this new keyword which i was no where to be found for in the SERPs.

so go ahead, change the titles (but don't deceive) of the old posts that rank well, add new keywords or you can change you want.

    all the best

I think the best option is to make few changes and try to add your new keyword into the posts, tags and title without making much difference then start backlinking with you new keyword.
