AdSense Hover Highlighting Their Ads...

AdSense seems to be doing some testing again...

My CTR today is unusually low...

When you hover over an ad, that ad turns salmon color...

This does NOT blend at all!
And on my sites, is absolutely killing my CTR.

Anyone else notice this:

Google allows you to change the color theme of the ads. Log into your adsense account and see if they will let you change the hover color.

This is not something that can be changed. I have looked, and looked again,
but there is no setting to fix this.

Also, this seems to be going on sometimes... like AdSense is Testing it to
see if it "works." I'm only noticing the testing in Firefox, which happens to
be the browser that the majority of my visitors use.

20 minutes ago, all of my sites were displaying the hover, and now they are not.

I'm not the type of dude who comes on here and says, "Oh my CTR is down."

I see a lot of people do that. (Not saying you're one of them Grotto_from_Canada)

      Obviously, CTR varies.

I earn a good amount of money online each month with AdSense, but today,
CTR has gone down to an all time low.

Last time my CTR was this low was when I placed my ads below the
fold, and made them rainbow colored.
Then I watched Joel Comm. lol

One of my sites gets 1,000+ unique visitors a day, and usually my earnings
are pretty good by this time, but as of right now, earnings are sitting 10 to
20 times less of what they normally should be.

Why should that have anything to do with CTR?

However, that option is not available to regular adsense users
        as far as I know.

          Hey Paul.

Any style change that is made will affect your AdSense CTR.

In this case, users hover over a link, and a huge salmon background color
appears behind the advertisement. This salmon color doesn't match any
other color on my website. Furthermore, it screams advertisement to the
          user.

To me, it's conclusive that AdSense is testing the hover, since the hover
was only appearing on Firefox, and at certain screen resolutions.

Currently, my advertisements, along with the advertisements of many
other AdSense Publishers have gone back to normal. (Normal being that
the ads don't display the salmon colored background during a hover.)

Since things have gone back to normal, I have seen a few clicks on my
          advertisements. Go figure. lol

We will see if the AdSense stats manage to catch up with themselves, but
for now, it seems like today was just a lost day for a lot of us AdSense
Publishers. (Or maybe a gained day, depending on how the hover favored
          other publishers.)

PS: I rarely check my AdSense account. It just so happens that I noticed
my ads were displaying that weird hover... so I decided to check my
account come to find that my earnings were way low for that time of day

Highlighting would definitely negatively affect Adsense revenue. Blending is key to Adsense. That is like the first rule everyone learns.

How on earth does it effect CTR???????????????
      It changes color when HOVERING!!!!!!!!!!!!

I guess any mouseover effects are detrimental then.......

Of course they have gone back to "normal."

There was no testing. Javascripts get mixed up glitches all
      the time.

Internet Explorer FAR exceeds any visitor base of firefox....

I don't know people. You would not see the salmon color
unless hovering....so again.....it does not effect blending at all.
      Would not effect CTR:

"OH NO! When I pass my mouse over this part the color changes!
Horrors! I will not click! No click for you!"

      That's just crazy.

Blending is a bad idea anyway.

Everything has gone back to normal for today, folks. Hopefully the highlighting continues to stay out of the picture.
