Advice SEO please

May I just Introduce myself, I am Wez I am new to this forum and also new to internet marketing I am in the process of trying to get the best SEO for my business website built by myself and my nephew.
I wonder if anyone out there can help me, I need some advice/ideas, the thing is my niche is highly competitive and is not selling a product but rather a service. What I need to know is the best way if its even possible to get above my competitors on google as we are all likely to be using the same main keywords as keywords for this niche are rather limited.


The service in question is the Aerial and Satellite installations industry.


Any ideas or pointers I would be most grateful for suggestions.

    I'm not an expert but with all the buzz about offline marketing have you looked at getting your business listed in google places. Are you competitors listed there? Have you tried localizing the key word for instance, see what the search volume and results indicated for your given keyword plus the name of your city? Also how extensive has your keyword research been?

    You want to learn about Local SEO. Try searching for some guides about it I know there are a ton out there. Also, just focus on normal SEO as well and your site will rank. On page SEO on your site and build Off-page SEO with backlinks.

    Yeah... that does sound like a local application. Look into getting a free Google Places listing. Another thing you can do is simply put your city name in front of your keyword phrase that you will be optimizing for. You can probably get listed on page 1 within a week if you do that. Once you pick your keyword phrase, do all your on page optimization using that keyword phrase. All back links should have the keyword phrase in the anchor text.

      Hi Wez,

      You have been given some good advice here. The main things you'll need to do to get ranked in a competitive niche are:

      Choose your keywords - long-tail if possible (a longer, more specific version of the keyword phrase.) For example, if you want to write about seo, instead of choosing "seo" as your keyword, choose "seo for small businesses."

      Backlinks are very important - good quality, one-way backlinks that include your keyword phrase in them where possible. You can get some good one-way links by article marketing (submitting articles to article directories), forum signatures (include a link) and guest blogging.

    SEO consists of backlinks, promotions including press releases and social media, directory submissions, metatags and more. Your best bet is to hire a local SEO company to help you out. Its very time consuming and you have to know what your doing because if you don't then you could possible get kicked off the search engines.

      Thanks Guys some very useful info there and plenty of work for me to do
      I will take on board all that you have said and give it a go and if i dont see some positive results will most likely have to consult an expert to take a look at my site and optimise for me.
      Just as a matter of interest what should I expect to pay for this kind of service Id hate to get ripped off if you know what I mean.

        You don't necessarily need a consultation. Just read a few guides to get some basics down on SEO and then buy or build some links and optimize your onpage seo by yourself.
