i created a site three weeks ago and got the .org exact match. The .com, amazon, & wikipedia, ehow and fixya seem to be the only competition. keyword gets 13,000 searches.

the first week I hired a content writer who did three articles, then i did 20 social bookmarks and it was indexed within a couple of hours on page 3.

second week, i joined two forums related to the niche and commented on two threads each. i waited until the threads dropped off, and then added my sig link.. One of the threads was PR4, the rest were N/A.

saturday, i did 200 profile links and ran them rough linklicous, so they'll be feed and pinged until mid april.

for the last two days, i'm No. 2 on page 1, behind Amazon. I never got to page 1 so fast before. Should i be worried.

It's not unusual for a new site to rank highly quickly. However, once Google does a proper review it is likely that you will fall to something like position 250 and then gradually recover to a true position (which may of course be back at #2).

Yeah, I'd go along with that. Enjoy your time on page one, but probably you will disappear again for a while. I am finding that I then land up back on page two or something, and then the real SEO/backlinking work begins :/ I wish EMDs still had the power to rank you on P1 out of the box, but it doesn't seem to be the case any more. Good luck though, who knows!

Who says you can't earn money as an eBay affiliate any more? My stats say otherwise

Google has stated in the past that they do not manipulate the rankings of individual sites. I do not believe anyone is doing a "review" of new sites either.

Google does seem to have a new content bonus, though, that lasts a couple of weeks. In my experience, you start losing rank at about 3 weeks, and start regaining at about 3 months.

Of course, adding backlinks can completely mask this effect.

When I referred to "review" I did not mean a review by a person. Perhaps your "new content bonus" is a better way of describing what seems to happen.

I experienced that before with other sites. usually like within the first few days after i created it. and it usually doesn't last more than 24 hours.

i think this will stick since i've been at no.2 for 48 hours, and i now see that one of my inner pages is #11 for the keyword.

cpc is $0.70 but you really shouldn't take that to mean anything.

for example, another one of my sites has a supposed 0.05 cpc since it is a quotes site. $2 clicks aren't uncommon with it. i even got a $4 click once.

wow really.. so say I recieve around 350 visitors daily, and the CPC is .08 (so it says) and its in the adult niche..

I've only made one sale of $17 on it in 2 weeks, do you think I should try adsense? will I make more on it that way? It's so hard to get it to convert.. their looking for information rather then buying..

and do you mind me asking what theme you use for adsense? sorry for all the questions.

Pessimists! I'll be a bit more positive and say that your sites' gonna stick right where it is if not move up.

The truth though is that nobody knows where your site is going to be in the future. If you got it there in the first place, that's good news if you ask me.

    Nice going.

I see a mixed replies here..

Yes it is not unsual that sometimes few sites gets ranked quickly but it is not necessary that they will go down to 250 or whatever the OP has said.

3 weeks is still a more than enough time to be honest. And if the keyword is not competitive it can be ranked in less than 1 week. Search volume doesn't suggest the competition though..

And yes you can get paid a lot more than actual cpc of your keyword. The only thing is if you are not satisfied with the amount of $$ you are getting through clicks then you should filter the ads in adsense.

I've also been experiencing this recently. I fly up with new sites and then disappear then it comes back. Great but frustrating (the flying up bit)
