Multiple AdSense accounts

So I have read more than once that you are not allowed to have more than one AdSense account. I found this a little difficult to believe and never really believed it as I was pretty sure there was a way.

I found myself fumbling through AdSense help pages and low and behold, I stumbled upon the following:

Can I sign up for more than one account?

No. Publishers are not permitted to maintain multiple AdSense accounts under the same payee name.
However, we've provided some guidance below that may help you if you're trying to submit multiple applications. Please identify which common reason best describes your situation, then follow the instructions below.

Not sure where the 'guidance' is as there was nothing more about it below that. The italics and underline is mine, it is for emphasis and to point out the loophole. If you owned ten companies, each with their own bank account, you could have an account for each company. Therefore, you could have ten companies, or eleven if you had one for yourself.

I have always believed that to be true, and now I read if in Google's information, so I got to say that I was right.

You can have as many accounts as you want, If you create a new business with each business having a unique state tax ID.

The real question is "Why bother"?

Because Google does not tell you exactly what they are expecting from Adsense sites, there are guidelines but they are a little loose. And the standards applied seem to vary from publisher to publisher. Ezine Articles, they were punished in the SERPs recently but for a long time ran with their sites covered in head to toe in Adsense, it was a MFA site. If a 100 page site owned by a small publisher had such a site, would Google (assuming a manual inspection) tolerate it? Perhaps they would if the content was ok, nobody really knows.

If you earn too much there is the potential it can all go horribly wrong with loss of account and furthermore Adsense helping Google to identify your sites. With many accounts, at least there is the possibility of "not everything in one basket".

This is something I have been thinking of for a while, how easy is it to get 10 different bank accounts under 10 different company names?

The only thing is, it would be annoying having to login with different networks. But I think a proxy can solve that issue.

One thing we can agree is that Google's guidelines are indeed sort of loose. So, acquiring multiple accounts, if you could manage to do it, just might be one of those 'loose' reasons that'll get you banned totally.

Say what? Who said i was planning on doing anything. You assume way too much. I made a statement to the many claims I have read on this web site that you can oly have one AdSense account. And that is absolute false. Based on what Google says on their own web site.

Not sure what question you are referring to. The thread was a statement in response to the many claims I have read on this web site that you can only have one AdSense account. And that is absolutely not true. Based on the quote I gave from Google's own web site.
