TLD extensions of the .com/.org/.info/.net don't affect SEO at all.

Country domain extensions rankings can, a little, so a .cc can sometimes rank #1 as seen on Google in some countries (especially inside the Cocos Keeling islands? ) and not in others. But having said that, any extension can certainly rank #1 anywhere with enough SEO.

The first part of you statment is wrong . Having a .info domain and .com domain is different . Through my experience ( I have more than 50 websites) it appeared that google prefer .com , .net , .org better than the rest of TLDs.
Recently I entered an SEO contest from I made up keyword and I had both .info and .com EMDs . Well I did the same thing for both domains , My .com ended up number 1 on google and my .info on the somewhere in page 3 .
So to summarize , .com , .net and .org carry much weight on the Google's eyes .
      Cheers

        Very different, I agree.

        But not for SEO purposes.

That's just one of those highly pervasive old "urban myths of internet marketing", I'm afraid.

Matt Cutts has said very repeatedly, in writing and on video, on his own blog and on Google's blog, that this isn't true, and he's specifically invited people to quote him on it, to try to correct all the misinformation and mistaken beliefs about this.

The problem is that people notice that not many .info domains rank as highly as .com domains (which is true) and they mistakenly imagine that that's evidence of their not being so easy to rank highly (which isn't true at all).

All it's really evidence of, of course, is the fact that there aren't as many of them to start with, and many marketers don't use them for sites they want to rank well. In other words it's evidence of the perception, not of the reality.

"But you try explaining that the young generation of today, and they just won't believe you ..." :p

Anyway, for anyone wanting to read more and open-minded enough to envisage that they might be mistaken about this simple matter, there are good discussions here, here, here and here.

Sorry I will have to disagree with you on this
a .info domain is less valuable than a .com . I entered many SEO contests and in some of them I had the same domain with 2 different TLDs .c0m and .inf0 . I did the same work for both , guess what ? my .c0m were always on top 3 and the .inf0 on 2 nd page or the bottom of the first page . As for Matt Cuts he also said that EMD domains don't have much value for SEO !!
And I think that any SEO veteran in here can prove him wrong.

Same keywords, same tags, same content? Matt Cutts never said EMD doesn't have much value. He believes branding is more important, but never said the value isn't important.

.com, .info, .cc, doesn't matter. There is no preference in any search algorithm that places a preference over one extension or another. I have quite a few .info domains that are ranking well, even over the EMD .com.

Yup Same Everything at the same time . and if you re-watch Matt Cutts Video , you will see that at the end he will say that having the keyword on the domain won't help that much .

As for the .info they can rank yes , but they won't rank against good competitors . A good strategy to understand what I am saying is if you can actually look at your competitor SEO ( on site and Off site ) I am pretty sure that they are not that much optimized , yet you will see them on 1st page .

All What I am saying is based on experience , and I always enter toff niches what other marketers are there , so everyone is doing his SEO duties . That's why I believe that on a hard battle .com's come in more handy than .info

                Wrong, my friend.

                Alexa is right here.

                I've ranked a number of .info's, .co's, .biz's, etc. "against good competitors."

A bit like the myth that .edu is better than .com for getting backlinks from.

Funny how people sell "Edu Backlinks" but they don't sell "Com backlinks" (they just call them backlinks)
