Most of my sites are for miro-niches, so generally promote longtail keywords is enough for me, and use article-submission websites is a smart move, can drive lots of link from there. I don't really understand "money site" you said, you mean your website is about making money? If so, it's very competitive, so I suggest you start from some less-competitive long-tail keywords, it can drive traffic and raise your website's visibility.

While doing article submission, it is important to be attentive to some points, for example how your current web ranks are and is it going to be your first time doing article writing and submission. For newly launched websites, using long tail keywords would be a very great idea because their ranks for main and primary terms might be still weak.

Gradually as the ranks of your website get improved for long tail terms, you may think about writing several high quality and informative terms and then use your main terms as anchors of the author links. This way, your site would be powered by a variety of links, use as many relevant ones as you can for better results.

It's ok if you write articles for your main keyword too. The worst that could happen is that it's out ranking your main site... but even then it's getting traffic and sending the quality readers to your site.

If that does happen, just backlink your main site til it's ahead of the article.

    Hi there Chris,

Yes, you should put titles in your articles. Yes, this will make it compete with your own website.

If you don't wanna optimize for your main keyword because you worry that the EzineArticles.com article will outrank your article, here's a good tip.

    Go to Google Keyword Tool,

    then enter your main keyword

Then... what you do is pick a few keywords that ARE TIGHTLY RELATED to your main keywords. Then write articles on EzineArticles.com based on these tightly related keywords.

Google will reward you for writing related articles. Better relevance score. Better rankings.

End result, you can still get pretty targeted traffic from these tightly related keywords. Actually, long tails are fine too.
