Please tell me that you don't actually mean to blog spam? I take it you are wanting to know how to make blog commenting work? The answer is simple.
A) You need to be making relevant comments that add value to the blog. Quote a part of the article and then comment on it, or reply to a previous comment and add your bit.
B)You need to commenting on high PR blog pages of PR3 and up. Just 20 -30 of these a month will do wonders for your rankings.

To answer your question though, yes I think blog spamming is dead. Relevant thoughtful blog commenting is still alive and well.

I think is blog are spamming. Blog is do follow link and you getting more traffic and black links.

Blog COMMENTING is definitely not dead but the real spammers are messing the system up though.
I think blog commenting is not only good for your backlink but also for the blog you are commenting on.
Just stay away from the spam messages like 'Great post. Will read again' and crap like that!

Blog Spamming? I don't really have an idea about this thing. I hope you mean Blog Commenting right? If not, I guess you wanna use a lots of blog directing all links to your money site... Well that's link wheeling... Using different types of High PR Micro Blogging Platform to promote once site...

Spamming is definitely not dead as I see it all the time. But recently started talking to a group of bloggers that have been classified as spammers by akismet and they aren't spamming. A fine line here!

Kind of, there are now no follow tags on most blogs blocking credit. only a few don't but google penalizes fast now.

It doesn't work as good as it used to do, that's for sure. If you push it too far you will get akismet-banned.

Does anyone know how many reports it takes before akismets ban your site?

I certainly hope so! I got so fed up with spam comments on my latest site that I moved it from a WP platform to Joomla. I agree with the other posters: It should be illegal!
