Adding Domain to CPanel Issue

I am trying to "add a domain" on my hostgator C Panel. I connected the namerservers already on my namecheap domain and when i do the "add-on domain" and create my own password,the next page says

"Error from park wrapper: You cannot park your main domain!"

what step am i missing?

    You should do as below for adding domain to your cPanel:
    1) Go to your cPanel.
    2) Go to Domain part.
    3) Click on Addon Domains.
    4) Enter the name of your domain and other needed information and then click on Add Domain button.
    Then the new domain is added to your cPanel.

    sounds like you already have the domain setup and are trying to add the same domain (which has already been parked to your account). just set the nameservers and your site should be live

    You don't have to add your main domain name to the add-on area. If you have other domains, you add those. The main domain isn't put on the add-on domain area, it's the main domain you use.
