More then 5 backlinks from EA are useless?

So I've got a free report over the WAR ROOM (which is very good to be honest) where a sentence got my immediate attention.

This guy wrote that it's USELESS to have more then 5 backlinks from, let's say EzineArticles, to your domain due to the fact that all links are from the same C class server - same IP.

In other words, Google doesn't count 127 backlinks from the same server to your site, only up to 5 backlinks.

Is this really the truth??

If so, article marketing focusing at EA for example just makes sense for article syndication and to get traffic directly from EA and the ranked articles, but it's WORTHLESS for Backlink power.

Can you share your input here, this is really important to me.

I can't voucher for how many links Google does or doesn't acknowledge from one particular site but it would seem logical that they give less credence if there's a huge number all coming from one place.

However it's not so much about how many links you're getting from them but the number of sites which choose to reprint your article after they saw it on EZA. Plus of course it's also about the number of real, live humans who see your article, wherever it is, and come to visit your site.

I do not know if the number is 5 or 50, but at some point backlinks from the same website start to get redundant.

However, if you get backlinks to different pages on your website they will help.

Otherwise none of our RSS submissions of ezinearticles, squidoo, or blogger feeds would help as there are thousands of backlinks from the RSS directories to those websites already.

the purpose of backlinks is not only for SEO, you still have real human click through your backlinks to your website. So the more backlink you have still equal the more traffics you have.

That all links have to be from different IPs is a myth.

An article (one that is unique) gives you traffic and links. With article links I managed to get a web site from PR0 to PR3 within about 3 months.

People that sell "SEO Hosting" might tell a different story. I do not sell articles or links or hosting by the way.

I don't know if there's a specific number, like 5, when Google starts to discount links.

But one thing is sure: Getting 100 back links from 100 different sites is better than getting 100 back links all from the same domain.

So rather distribute unique articles to different directories.

You need to make sure though that those articles remain visible and relevant to Google. This is done by building back links to your unique articles every now and then.

A good thing about having many articles in 1 directory is that you get a property that you then can promote, for example your ezinearticles author page.

I read the same report you mentioned, and was surprised by the same line. However, it makes complete sense that Google starts to discount links from the same IP at some point - diminishing returns makes sense in this case. I try to spread things out over a few good article directories to avoid this problem and increase exposure to different audiences.

However, as was mentioned earlier in this thread, article distribution sites in particular have the added benefit of backlinks from everyone who uses your article on their site, which can really add up if your article was high quality.

I think it is very important to diversify your links, as it will get better results. No one knows the exact figures and rules, apart from google.

However article directory links are typically PR-0, so there are better quality links to be found elsewhere.

You can get your articles to get higher page rank with time, if the article is good quality. They can also be syndicated elsewhere to get more links from that one article.

        Hello guy's

just a quick THANK YOU to all who answered.

With this in mind, the same rule applies to a SQUIDOO, HUBPAGE, SCRIBD link or whatsoever.

Those assets are actually LIMITED for your backlink strategy to a certain amount of links, will it be 5 or 20.

This is important news (at least for me) to pass along to others as most build those sites to get BACKLINKS.

        As example:

Sending a backlink from my Squidoo lens to my Ezine article is as well useless if this logic applies as there are already a ton of links placed from Squidoo to EA. Google will discount that link.

So we have to focus with those assets to get Google ranking on it's own, and for the power of SYNDICATION. Right?

        Very important IMO

From recent experience, I can tell you that a solid in-post backlink from an authority site will work better than an EZA backlink.

One of my sites had dozens of backlinks from EZA and was ranked around 12-15 position. I wrote two guest posts for two reputable websites with my keyword in them. Three days later, my site has jumped to #5.

I'm learning a lot these days. I've realized that article marketing is best used as a tool to get traffic, not build backlinks. To get solid backlinks, you'll have to put in some solid effort and actually get in touch with other webmasters, create a quality site, and write guest posts, etc. All the tools, hacks, shortcuts, etc. won't cut it in the long run.

This is great to know and I've followed Chris Rempel a few weeks back with it's launch of ActuallyRank where he goes exactly into this direction.

So would below backlink strategy be good? (only off page SEO)

BACKLINK LEVEL 1, to your money site
      - In Post anchor text links at blogs or Authority sites (at homepage?), and a few backlinks to the same domain from high PR sites like Squidoo, Docstoc, Scribd, EA, YouTube. Wiki, Hubpages, Dmoz etc. using unique content and deeplinking to your domain. A few hand picked reciprocal links. Organic syndication of your content over article directories and social networks.

BACKLINK LEVEL 2, to your Squidoo, Docstoc, Scribd, EA, YouTube etc.
Comment links from Blogs, Forum Backlinks, Backlinks from FreeTraffic System, UAW, SENuke, all kind of automated backlinks

BACKLINK LEVEL 3, to those backlinks
RSS feed links, ping links like from PingFM, spun article backlinks, mass diretory submission backlinks

Is this more or less what works best?

      feel free to add/change

The backlinks from articles can pull in links from other websites not just ezine. Links from the same website do loose strength after a while. I have noticed that in my back links from the same site. But ezine or article submission you have a change for more links than just the ezine.
