Keyword research - Broad vs Phrase???

Hi guys,

Can someone please advice me on the following.

Say i've found the following keyword phrase...

"eat apples" - Broad: 50,000 searches a month. Phrase: 2,000 searches a month.


If i owned "www eat-apples com"

Would my possible visitors be from the broad results (50k) or the phrase results (2k) -- or would it be a mixture of both?

Does broad mean the phrase is used like... "should i eat apples", "why would i want to eat apples" or even "apples should eat people"

    phrase is a lot more accurate. With broad you're then competing with a lot more websites as well.

      In some cases, broad can be misleading as well. If the keyword is more than two words, it can be worse. Stick to phrase in your case.

    Phrase gives a better estimate for traffic. So use that as yardstick.

    Broad will cover all variation of the words - in any order. So in your case, it will cover all 3 variations mentioned by you.

      I'd go one lower and use exact. The sad part is you might not like what you see, but that is the best way to gauge what kind of traffic you are gonna get. Anything else is a bonus...Just my thoughts.
