I have a new blog website. How do I get my blog listed in Google News? Is there a page where I can submit my site to?

Unless your 'blog' is a news site, then don't waste your time. GN is not interested in anything but news. They got a lot of rules, and don't put up with anything that deviates from their dogma.

Even if you get in, you can never be sure that you won't get the dreaded email telling you that they can no longer list your stuff in GN. I know many people that have had Google approved news sites and have excellent sites, yet one day they received that dreaded email.

Not trying to scare you off as it can be fun, and you CAN make lots of money, yet many don't. The one thing that everyone that I know who did this agrees on is that it is a lot of work having to publish at least three articles per day.

You are supposed to have at least six or more writers as I understand it. Yet many try to do it alone and just have six or more pen names. Do you even know the criteria for being a GN site?

Getting accepted into Google news is no easy task. I submitted my site in March and was just disapproved because I did not appear to be a "news organization." They cited me for not having a staff page, even though I do have a staff page.

Regardless you will need to ensure your technical guidelines are met. Also I would encourage you to NOT use free theme if you use wordpress. You will also need to appear as a news organization but I'm still left in the dark on this one as I did everything I was supposed to do but was still denied.

You are quite right, getting and staying accepted is a tough job. But if that is what they responded to you, then respond back with the link of your staff page. That should have been included in your application so not sure why they missed it.

Hiya Tim, good to see you in the WF. Did you get another website approved by Google News? They are so much hard work.

When I've found something really worthwhile to sell, I might change this sig line. But at the moment I've got nothing for you.

Google news is something I plan on aiming for with one of my sites, but I am going to really take my time and get it right. And also not sell out on the hope that I get in. I still have to be profitable whether or not I get into that listing.

I have a Google news site, now trying to figure out the best way to make cash

Or sell the site after a few months, gets about 2k hits a day and is all most a month old.

Any good input on what works the best to make good money?

I heard that you need at least two author profiles to get accepted to Google News.

I have a Google News site as well, Pintop. (Ask Tim when he comes back in here.) They take a lot of upkeep. You either have to pay good writers (which is not cheap), so that's a never-ending expense, or you have to do a lot of writing day after day and month in, month out. And it gets to be really tiring, even if all you do is check and edit your writers' work. (Actually they need to have near-perfect grammar and style so you really do need trained journalists somewhere in the organisation. That isn't cheap, and you won't find 'em at $5 an article. Not in my experience, anyhow. YMMV, but I kinda doubt it.)

Yes, there are a few people out there making very nice money, thank you very much (ka-ching!), claiming to teach newbies how to get approved but Google News has made it really tough since the end of last year and lots of people who have paid good money to be shown what to do, and done everything right, are still being rejected after months of really hard work.

      Caveat Emptor, or Buyer Beware!

If you look around Google News, they have a backdoor that doesn't require getting approval. It just works based on specific types of keywords.

I'm looking at about 10 auto sites right now on Google News.

I think there are two different discussions going on in this thread. One is about having a site that itself was accepted and therefore the subsequent press releases that are posted on it will appear in google news. People then charge others to post their news with the promise they will appear in google news section.

The other discussion on this thread is about how to have your own news releases appear in google news (and not have a site itself that always has it's entries posted in news). For the second issue, sites such as webwire, emailwire and others that accept your press release will show up in the google news section and you can have a link that points back to your website.
