I have heard from other SEO guys that Ezine Articles is not as strong ranking with Google as it used to be. Any insight on this?

I guess you are referring to the news published around mechanisms of the latest Google ranking update. Well, it might be estimated that some article directories and mini sites with copied contents might lose ranks.

Google is only looking for original contents and if it find some articles, copied and pasted on tens of directories, all like each other, well some rankings losses might be expected.
