Google page one question

Ok so I need peoples advice.

I am doing SEO for a company in Vancouver called Pinnacle Moving.

Their main keyword is: Vancouver Movers

They are on the first page on Google.ca for that search term.

The sites that are ranking in the top position are the map listings so would it make more sense to build links to their google places listing instead of their website?

Now that you are the number one search spot, you have time to start focusing more on your Google Places listing - getting page 1 on Google search and on Google map search (AKA Google Places) will increase your traffic.

Do both, and more importantly get 'citations' for the Places listing.

Create links for map listing is not a good idea,because you are going to see some other listing too.Concentrate on keyword in your url and create backlink for it.
