Question about traffic driving methods

Hello,

The other day I bought a gig on fiverr that claimed it would "Send 40,000 human visitors to my site in four days". Like most things on fiverr I justified doing this by thinking, heck it's only five bucks even if it is a scam.

Two days into it I am impressed! Although not 10,000 visitors per day, I have received approx. 2500 visitors per day for the first two days.

My questions are:

1) How do they do that? Most of the visits have no referrer site in the logs so it is hard to tell where they are from. Many others show the referrer as privatelink.de which is some type of link anonomizer service.

2) If I receive no conversions due to this traffic, is there still a benefit to doing this such as Google organic results increase or Alexa rank increase?

Thanks,
Robert

Check to make sure you aren't getting hit by robots and spiders. A lot of times you will get linked through FORCED pop-ups or pop-unders. This make break Google TOS if you are doing Adsense.

      Thanks for the reply.

The user agents are fairly normal. Here is a sample of one of them:
      "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; ru; rv:1.9.1.18) Gecko/20110319 Firefox/3.5.18 WebMoney Advisor"

There are many others of course but they don't look like typical bot user agents. I don't do adsense anyway so that is probably not an issue.

I am curious however how can someone add traffic like this almost immediately for four days then apparently turn off the switch. I don't see how that is possible.

      Thanks,
      Robert

Does anyone have any ideas about how this traffic is created and if it has any seo advantages?

I do this for my own sites, on a smaller scale.

My last site that I built I sent about 1,500 uniques on the fist day I launched the new site from a single backlink on another older established site that I own, & gets around 3k uniques every day.

Find out the traffic source from the fiverr gig, is all the traffic coming from the same source?

The traffic is mostly all from different sources. How did you "send" 1500 unique visitors on the first day?

I am also wondering the same thing...well maybe they have secrets which of course they won't divulged to the whole world or else they would lose business...

I agree that they would not like to divulge their secrets which is why I am asking the question here on WarriorForum but it does not seem like anyone here wants to divulge this information either. I promise I won't tell anyone...

I would still like to hear peoples opinions about whether or not this type of traffic can help with my rankings?

When someone makes an outrageous claim like that I just run the other way. If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is. At the very least, even if it is true, the methods they use are most certainly black hat and you might be playing with fire. Google doesn't like this stuff and it could result in your site being devalued.

I justified doing this by thinking, heck it's only five bucks even if it is a scam.
That's exactly how these scammers are making their money. $5 at a time. If they're only do 100 in a week, they've made $500. Not a bad living for doing nothing. And no telling what else they're doing along with this. Probably involved in massive credit card fraud rings that charge everyone's account a penny. Nobody will question it because the amount is so low. In the meantime, they're getting rich off of it.
