I used it on one of my gaming websites. Made about $137 in a month. Come to find out my users had been clicking on it 3 to 5 times a day each. Needless to say all that earnings went down the drain and I didn't receive any of it. If you get actual people to click on it, and don't force them. Then you'll get the money. But one click is like either 3 cents or 25 cents depending on what the ad is showing. So it all depends. Hope this helps.

    Matt,

There is a dedicated forum for it here:

Adsense / PPC / SEO Discussion Forum

BTW - Adsense can and will will most likely always provide a nice revenue stream

Google adsense is good, but the thing is that you need people to click the ads you placed on your websites. It's all about traffic, once you have high quality visitors go to your site everyday. You are more and likely making money. To be honest with you, unless you are good at what you do, Google adsense is not really ideal of MMO. Anyway, good luck!

I've got to disagree - Adsense is but one of what should be many, many different revenue streams for anyone in IM.

Like tmo said, it's all about traffic. Adsense can provide a decent revenue stream if you can drive sufficient traffic to your website but whether you should devote your time and resources to building an Adsense income depends on how it all fits into your business plan. If you are capable of driving decent traffic to a website then perhaps you'll profit more from selling products (either your own or as an affiliate) but that's not to say you can't do all three.

About 5 years ago I created an ebook which tanked when I tried selling it on it's own so I put the content up for free and placed adsense on the website. I haven't touched the website or driven any traffic to it for years and yet that website still brings in a small adsense income for me. I've found Adsense a good way to monetize content you put online for free and also found it a good way to generate a bit of revenue from exit traffic or 'non-buyer' traffic.

Should only be used as a last resort when all else fails.

  • I've never made a lot of money with it, anyway, but I prefer to keep my visitors on my page. The only time I want them to leave is to make the purchase. Sticky, sticky, sticky. :p

      Adsense is good for:

      monetizing seemingly unmonetizable niches
discovering monetization in the seemingly unmonetizable
      testing niches

      and more...

I love Adsense and it works very well in the right niche. It's very easy to make a lot of money with Adsense if you can get the traffic.

We have a few hundred sites on various topics. Before Google changed their algorithms we were bringing in about $1,000 per month with the adsense - decent volume keywords but in niche markets - some of them high value products too.

Once the algorithms changed our adsense dropped in half. But, for us, it pays for our hosting services.

Just check out Flippa.com. Some people are making like $800 per month with UGGLIEST one page sites that don't even have 600 words on them. It's all about traffic.

I use clickbank ad rotator instead. Adsense never did anything for me at all

    Enjoy the journey.

Adsense is great until you are shut down for some sort of TOS violation. What is a TOS violation, try to read it and even an attorney can't make heads or tails of it.

A word of advice, have more than one income stream from each site. If you are doing Adsense, try a Clickbank product as well. Or take a look at CJ or other Adsense alternatives.

Just be really careful. Can't piss on the big G. But wouldn't i love to
