When you comment on a blog that has a place to enter your website, do you get a backlink for this? I try to put my link in my comments but I think some of them automatically remove the link. I always make sure my comments are relevant; just want to make sure I'm not wasting my time. Thanks!

You do get a backlink from it. Try it and you will see that whatever you enter in for the name is the link. So if you are targeting a specific keyword, try putting that keyword in the name field .. and yes some websites do remove the link if it's in the comment.

• Yes you do get the link. I try to do something like John from my keywords. The my keywords will be whatever term I am trying to rank for.

I then focus on writing a comment that is valid and adds value to the post.

Yes it does leave a link to that blog, when you place your website url on the space.

Besides, there's many other blog platform that accept url insert in the comment box.
But you must type exactly keyword

the origin blog or site needs to be relevant to the target blog or site.

It does not matter what type of post or comment you leave. If you leave a blog comment on a blog about birds and in your comment you link to a site about dogs you basically have zero relevance except being in the pet category. Even though your comment may be relevant ... the two sites are not. and that's what matters.

There are some exceptions like news sites that can be very diverse in subject and theme and that's where press releases coming but overall press releases are just a more bands to form of RSS spam feeds.

Keep it relevant on the domain level.

This is a common way to get backlinks. It's important:

--To leave a quality comment, so you're guaranteed to have it accepted by the site. No use posting on 30 blogs and only getting 3 comments approved.
--To post on relevant blogs. As mentioned above, a comment linking to a bird site, placed on a dog site, is hardly going to do you any good.
--Try for quality blogs. A two page, rarely updated and not very well ranked blog won't get you the same link juice as a quality, regularly updated blog.
--Try and comment on blogs with dofollow backlinks. This is much better in terms of link juice.

Putting keywords in name fields is the worst seo strategy ever and is also called blog comment spam.

When link building my first moto is - BE GENUINE

Hi. I for one believe if the blog post is contextually relevant to the keyword anchor used in the "Name" text field of the comment form, then the value of the comment would dictate if the blog owner will either approve the comment, or reject it.

By "value", I'm referring to the benefits offered by the tips, info, advice, strategies, solutions and techniques to everyone interested in topics covered by the discussions in the blog post, especially if those tips, info, advice, strategies, solutions and techniques are yet to be mentioned in previous discussions, and more so if the linked pages offer added benefits not found in the discussions nor from the comment itself...

You know most of blogger are using plugins to prevent spamming. So its not easy to put a link in comment body. You can put in website url field and can place keyword in name field. So in that way,you can get backlinks from a blog comment.

Hi. As mentioned above: Go to blog post discussions contextually relevant to your target keywords, website content and products/services.

If you want Google PR juice to be shared to your linked page from the blog post discussion page, go for dofollow pages with high Google PR. If you want relevant traffic funneled from those blog post discussion pages to your linked pages, go to contextually relevant blog post discussion pages ranking high in Google for keywords relevant to your target keywords.

After reading the discussions in the blog post: Enter your target keyword in the "Name" text field, your target URL in the "URL" or "Website" text field, your email in the "Email" text field and an intelligent comment providing tips, advice, info, strategies, techniques and solutions useful for people interested in such discussions.

You should contribute info, advice, tips, strategies, techniques and solutions yet to be mentioned in previous discussions on the blog post. Better if your linked pages provide additional benefits not found in those discussions nor from your contributed comment.

Your comment should act as an excellent preview to the added benefits offered by your linked pages...

If you don't include the keyword in the "name" field does this mean that making a blog comment doesn't improve your ranking in the SERP's for any particular keyword?

Say for instance, the main keyword for my site is "cat food" and that keyword is included in my domain name does this mean that i wouldn't be ranked any higher for this keyword if i don't include it in the "name" field.

Just use "Name at keywords," or "Name - The keyword(s) Guru," etc. Just be creative. This helps a bit. You should see a higher success rate as opposed to using just your keywords.

Blog commenting used to be one of the best ways to gain backlinks, but because of huge spam comments, blog owners routinely remove such comments. If you'd like your comment to retain backlinks, make sure that your comment add value and not just leave a 'thank you' comment.

Good luck

If your post was not removed, you can get backlinks from it. In fact, blog commenting is good when it comes to getting good quality backlinks.
