I have been reading about keyword domains, and I was wondering: would examplewebsite.com be the same as example-website.com, or is it no good to put a hyphen there?

yes, I think both are same value interms of search engines crawlers but not for the users its difficult to remember the hyphen domains compare to non hyphen domains, So I prefer without hyphen domain names

    Yup, exactly.

Try Google "digi photography tips", with quotes.
And notice the domain name, it still rank with hyphen is there.

Hyphens are fine - they actually help differentiate between words. Some combinations can cause confusion.

    I recall:
    penisland.com

    Pen Island
    or
    Penis Land
