A lot of SEOs and link builders engage in Mass Linkbuilding in order to increase search engine rankings.

I think it is much more important to really plan your link building strategy and build links properly. Here are the 4 steps I have identified:

1) Identify objective/goal
2) Identify who you want to gain links from?
3) What content will they link to?
4) How will they find your content to link to

    Well first and foremost, do not ever get your links on link farm sites, you are obviously gonna loose the value in google. Make sure you do your link building campaign as natural as possible

    There is no substitute for leg work when it comes to link building. You need to search for the right links and make your own judgement as to weather they are good value for your site. Also stay away from auto/mass submission.
