Sandboxed - Wait for it to come back or move on?

I'm relatively new to IM, and finally broke through with my first money-making site. Less than a month after registering the domain (moosejawcoupon.net), I made $100. Might not seem like much, but all of you know how that first hundred bucks feels.

So imagine my horror when I went from page 1 to oblivion overnight. I had purchased a backlink pyramid on fiverr, and was gone within 48 hours. Not sure if one has to do with the other.

When I do a site:moosejawcoupon.net search I still have sites, so I haven't been deindexed. I believe I'm just doing the google dance.

Now my problem is that I spend the last six months bouncing from one idea to the next. I finally read a great piece of advice that said to focus on ONE thing and one thing only until you make $500 in one month. I was doing that...until about 10 days ago when my site disappeared.

So should I move on? Keep adding content? Sit tight and wait? I have a few other ideas for similar sites that I might pursue, but don't want to lose track of this one. Should I accept that it's gone for now and move on?

UPDATE - Read this great FAQ on this phenomenon (http://www.warriorforum.com/adsense-...deindexed.html) and here's what I discovered:

-I am not deindexed.

-I have not been penalized.

-I submitted my site for reconsideration, but was told that my site was not penalized manually and that there was nothing to reconsider. Nice of G to respond though, eh?

-Webmaster Tools shows me as averaging around 10th position for my keyword. But honestly I have no idea where I rank now. Market Samurai shows "---".

I guess I've just sunk? Too bad I have no idea where to. I did not realize the honeymoon effect when I began this...and got very excited that I climbed to the first page early on. Guess it was just placebo?

    This is a common story and does happen to new sites. You even say sandboxed in your title. If you think the website has potential and and is worth it then percivere and keep adding good content, aquiring good links and you will get back up to the top.

    Sandbox is a word which gets loosely thrown around, for the most part by lazy marketers who expect instant results but have not put in the effort.

      OK, thanks for that. Replace sandboxed with another term that means "I disappeared". Meh.

      I guess what I wish G would tell me is whether or not the actions I took lead to me dropping in the rankings. Should I continue to add content and backlinks? Or is that what caused me to drop off the face of the earth?

      I legitimately try to provide value on my page, and I am not looking to get rich quick. I would, however, like to build a site that ranks well for a highly-searched keyword. It's just frustrating for this noob to taste a bit of success, do more of what got me there, then fall out of favor with G.

        OpenNet, just stick with it! One month is not a long time in the IM world. The great thing is, you know that with a little boost your site has the potential to rank really well. Stick with the basics and your site will come back eventually.

        The basics are:
        1. Only use original well written content
        2. Google says that "Queries Deserves Freshness" - keep adding new content to the site on a regular basis (weekly is fine) and Google will like your site better.
        3. Quality Backlinks - not that fiverr junk. Get real backlinks. Comment on blogs, post in forums, anything legit.

    Just keep at it your site is still very new. I'm not sure if the backlink pyramid has hurt your rankings but I don't like the sound of it really. Unfortunately G will never tell you what you ahve done wrong. they are much too high and mighty to care.

    It might be frustrating but if you optimise for your KW ligatimately and consistently you will have sucess again.

      I feel your pain, and have been in the same place as you are...

      I had 2 sites (they were relatively new), one to page 3, pos 33, the other an astonishing page 1 pos 9. All of a sudden - vanished!!! Like into thin air - and I kept "manually" going thru the KW page by page, after 40 pages was not to be found ANYWHERE!!!

      Had a few senior warriors assure me, I was just dancing - and to be patient and enjoy the dance. They told me not to worry...
      Just keep building quality links (not the 7billion guaranteed) type. Build good quality links.

      So, I truthfully believe you are just experiencing the "wonderful dance" with the big G. Mine re-appeared. One after 3 weeks, the other it took over 4, but I came back even higher with both sites. (I seriously did not sleep well for over a week - I didn't do anything out of the ordinary and I truly could not understand why I had vanished!)

      Now, I don't mind dancing, but I'm still NOT real fond of the "long dances"

    Hi Thomas, don't give up whatever you do. Persistence and tenacity are great words to describe successful Internet marketing.

    Probably one month is not long enough to peg your site on a certain page rank. Sometimes it takes several months to a year for a site to get high ranking. It's important to keep adding good content above all to gain Google trust. Then begin a slow, consistent, back link plan. If you can add a few each day, keep it up. It's when you add a ton of links and then stop, that you lose credibility with the search engines.

    Thanks for the responses all. I think what I'll do is keep adding content, sit tight with the backlinking for now, and just hope it comes back. I never expected it to shoot to the top, as page 1 is competitive for this term, but I tasted position 7 and liked it. And like you, thomas1857, I trolled through the results for a half hour and couldn't find my site. It's frightening, especially given the time I put into it and the few bucks I made. It's scary to think that you can put in dozens of hours of work and then randomly disappear. No wonder people are scared out of IM! I'm determined not to be a statistic though...so I'll plug through this, and possibly start another site in my "downtime"!

    Actually starting another site and sitting tight with the backlinking is probably the worst thing you could be doing. Ignore the SERPs for now and just keep on doing what you were doing.

      What I was doing was using crappy fiverr gigs to get backlinks for me, so I'll at least stop doing that. What I will go back to doing was creating manual backlinks myself, which I did a couple times before resorting to fiverr. Hopefully G likes that better.
