Doubt in getting Indexed

Thank you very much for noting that dreadful mistake there. Could that be the reason that the page is not being cached?

Ya i know that it is cached, but I have changed the title tag and meta description tags. I have social bookmarked the site and the new changes are not being indexed. Thats my doubt.

OP, do you have a site-map set up in Google's favorite XML.gz format? You need to have at least two site-maps in general. One that is specific to Google, one that is made in the old fashioned way in Notepad and it would help greatly if you had another site-map for your readers to use.

Trust me, if you put up the xml.gz sitemap and you put up a site-map that users can use to navigate your site (basically make it a directory pages of your entire site which you update each time you add something or remove something from the website)

Having those two elements alone will make Google take notice of any and all changes you make. Be sure you have a Google web-tools or web-master account (I forget what they call it) and validate the website through that Google web-master account so that Google knows that you own the site. Then, whenever you change something big or small you'll be able to ping your sitemap.xml.gz directly to Google through your free account.

The nice thing about those accounts is that they also provide a decent amount of information about your website that you should always be aware of. Such as which keywords are bringing you the most organic traffic, how many back-links you have (that Google was able to find) as well as the amount of traffic and other such things.

I think if you do these things you'll have Google spiders all over your site in no time.

Well, let me explain a couple of things first. For some reason Google has it's heart set on the www.YourWebsite.com/sitemap.xml.gz for some unknown reason.

In every way that counts, sitemap.xml is exactly that, it's a site-map created in Microsoft Excel and it's a spreadsheet. Simple as that.

If you don't have MS Excel then don't worry, there are tons of WordPress plug-ins and stand-alone programs that will spider your site and create the sitemap.xml document for you. Some of them even go as far as to create the sitemap.xml.gz document for you and all you've got to do is upload it to your root directory. (Root directory is the directory where you main/front page of your site is located)

What is .gz? I'm going to quote this part from Google because they explain it better than I could:

"GZ or gzip is a software application used for file compression. gzip is short for GNU zip; as the program was created a free software replacement for the compress program used in early Unix systems, intended for use by the GNU Project"

Basically what they are saying is that .gz is roughly the same thing a .rar or .zip in that they are all file compression software.

I have no clue why Google like the sitemap to be .gz'd aka compressed, but ours is not to question why ours is only do or die.

The reason that uploading the sitemap.xml.gz to your website is so effective is because of the amount of importance that Google places on it. I guess it's like candy or some sort of drug that Google thrives on. So if you upload this type of sitemap, claim your site within Google web-master tools and then notify Google that it should spider your sitemap.xml.gz at which point Google will get all excited and very soon it will start spidering not only your site-map but your entire website too will be crawled and indexed by multiple search engines..

As far as setting up an account for Google web-master tools, Just go ahead and click this link that will take you directly to the website I'm talking about: http://www.google.com/webmasters/tools Once you get to the site and do the typical signup then everything will be almost self explanatory as soon as you login to your Google Webmaster account.

Finally, it's fine that you have a sitemap.xml file up on your server, it won't hurt you and Google MIGHT pay a little attention to it. Nevertheless, Google isn't the only game in town and it's important to remember that there are thousands of search engines throughout the world that will gladly use the sitemap.xml file you've already uploaded.

Maybe create one more sitemap file, besides the specialized one for Google, and in this case you would simply create a sitemap use Notepad and saving it as a .txt file. Upload that file and you'll be making some smaller sites search engine very happy.

I recommend that you create a sitemap for the readers/users of your website to use. So in other words, just create a website directory links page which can be used by humans but will also be LOVED by search engine spiders which will be using all their might to crawl and index your website.

So there you have it, the three types of sitemaps and why you need them. Well, maybe we don't know the exact "why," but we do know that this is what Google requires/expects from all websites that it indexes. Ask Google for clarification on the xml.gz format if you're really that curious.
