Hello guys!

I'm new in SEO and I'm curious about HIGH QUALITY BACKLINKS. They say that it is not a forum profile, blog or forum comments, directory submission and social bookmarking. And they say that the PAGE RANK must be in the actual page where the link are present.

If this not the backlinks listed above, so what is it?

I know everyone has their own definition of a HIGH QUALITY BACKLINKS so I need your opinions on how you define HIGH QUALITY BACKLINKS.

Thanks in advance.

        Hi tessa,

I agree except for the following:
        • Sites don't have PR, only individual pages.
        • Site authority carries little or no value, only page authority.
        • Search engines do not recognize site level relevancy signals, only page level signals.

For example a squidoo lens with a PR5 with low outbound links, would be a quality backlink. A profile is not quality.

In creating quality backlinks you need to consider the following: • High PR • Page Authority • Domain Authority • dofollow link attributes • Relevant sites

The only problem with this is that some of these links don't count. Wait Justin, what do you mean some of these links don't count?
Well, google devised this way of evening the playing field so that happy SEO nerds like me couldn't merely comment a thousand blogs and then jump to the top for a given keyword. This is done through inserting rel="no follow" into the <a> tag (link code), and is automatically done by default by most blogging platforms: wordpress, blogger, typepad, etc.
Now a number of webmasters do not agree with this, and they have enabled "dofollow", meaning they will give your link credit if they decide to approve your comment.
So, we don't want to waste our time commenting blogs that don't "dofollow". Firefox has a wonderful add-on that will show you which links are dofollow and which are nofollow:
Good point, also, use this search string in Google to find blogs you can comment on,

site:.com inurl:blog "post a comment" -"comments closed" -"you must be logged in" "your search goes here"

Well i would define high quality backlink as backlinks from relevant and authoritative websites in your niche. In case of Page Rank I will avoid this and would prefer to get a backlink from a low pr page if the page is highly relevant to my niche and is hosted on a authoritative website (again not necessarily of high pr).

You either have to pay for or create quality backlinks. You can pay for a homepage PR5/6 link that is relevant. That would be quality.

I consider quality to be also:

A page or blog on a high authority site (like wordpress.com, a .gov or .edu space), that has relevant content and link back. I then use lower quality links to build up these.

Quality and quantity go hand in hand tho. Don't be afraid to use SOME forum profiles and blog comments to help increase your quantity of backlinks.

The perfect backlink is a contextual link from a relevant authority site.

      The keyword is RELEVANT.

Web 2.0 sites, article directories, news sites etc are not considered RELEVANT - even though they may be authority sites.

Also, you dont need to have a high page rank to be considered an authority site. There are authority sites with PR0.

A contextual link is when the clickable link is found within the content, unlike a navigation, footer or breadcrumb link.

The clickable link must be relevant to the theme of the content. This is very important. If the page is related to the root domain, even better.

You can find lots of high PR backlinks from doing what is called, forum backlinking. The only way this will work is by using those forums which allow your links in your signature in the forum. Of course it is all up to the forum owner, and some do not permit this type of backlinking in their forums.

It is possible to outsource forum backlinking, but it is done in a different manner. But, to be honest, that is not something we highly recommend you do, but we wanted to mention it in case you come across it. You want to do that so you have variety which does matter with Google. If for some reason you are ever human-reviewed by Google, then you want everything to look as natural as possible.

Quite a few people use press releases for both high PR backlinks as well as traffic. This can actually be a way to get both of these benefits. Many high PR sites are good for backlinks, but not many are reliable sources of traffic.

One approach that just oozes with quality is to become a frequent guest blogger for high PR blogs and static sites. Simply put your primary search terms into Google, you may want to use their blog search, and you'll find lots of related blogs. Write to the owner of the site and offer to write guest blogs for them.

There are various blog networks that accept members for a price, and this can be a way to get some high PR backlinks. You can find these blog networks consisting of up to hundreds of blogs on a variety of niches.

When you get links from sites in a network, though, many could be from random blogs that have nothing to do with your topic, which can be a drawback. The network will distribute your spun articles, giving everyone backlinks. After the blog network publishes your content, it's a good idea to get more links to this page. Never simply rely on the strength of a single link.

As you focus on high PR backlinks it's important to remember that google will see what comes natural so you'll want to include backlinks from low to high for best results.

While link on a High PR page may be better, the chances of finding enough of them is challenge. My approach would be to find profile links and have backlinks on the inner pages of these High PR websites.
