Speculating On The Next Shift In Google Search Algorithms

I don't know about punishing for the links he mentioned, but dialing down their strength seems somewhat reasonable.

Either way, the guys at Search Engine Land know their stuff...we know one of their contributors and he's an SEO whiz, for sure.

I dont care about the next shift since with Google i am used to changes all the time anyway, some smaller, some bigger.

All i know is that i am NOT satisfied with the current state of things (after panda), since the domination in some niches of .EDU .GOV .PEDIA really annoys me.

Google rates what they call "authority sites" extremely high, even if those so called "authority sites" hav in deed very weak content which is a slap in the face for other, serious webmasters.

For example, in the weight loss niche they rank some crappy on-pager site from "reader's digest" extremely high which has some ridiculous low quality content aka "10 tips to lose weight"....but they rank it high because it's reader's digest.

Furthermore i also see some sites like .gov sites (nbh,nhs etc.) often ranking TWICE FOR THE SAME URL for some keyword.

Google cannot stop liking the "authority sites" regardless of the actual content and how minimalistic the actual content is - it likes it that much they are even able to rank twice on page #1.

Enough said....
