Repeating keyword variations in title?

Lets say I wanted to aim for the keywords "widgets blue" and "widgets red", putting them into my website title.

Would writing the title like this...

"Widgets: Blue & Red"

be the same as

"Widgets Blue & Widgets Red"?

It is clearly spamming of keywords and i would suggest to make it natural and relative to make it more competitive to others.

I disagree completely with the above. If you had both items available on the page it would be foolish not to put them both in the title.

And yes, it would work almost the same as the second example.

Hello:

I usualy put several keyword phrases that I want to rank for in the page title seperated by the " | " character(s). It works like a charm. Google will often index the site for all of the phrases instead of just one like with a normal title.

Provided it looks like something a person would write, there should not be a problem, e.g., "Red & Blue Widgets", or "Widgets: Red & Blue available".
If possible, I would however create two different pages, one for Red Widgets and one for Blue Widgets, and title the individual pages accordingly.

It isn't spamming at all. If those are your keywords, then put them in your title.
