Multiple backlinks from the same site?

Would it matter if you had multiple backlinks from the same website? (linking to only 1 of yours)

Im not talking about from the same page

but for example

www.url.com/page-1
links to \/\/
http://www.mysite.com/

and

www.url.com/page-2
links to \/\/
http://www.mysite.com/

would there be anything wrong with that?

Thanks,
Samuel Alexander

No there's nothing wrong with that. If you have a link in your signature, for instance, you will have multiple links from the same site.

Be sure that you are getting backlinks from the pages related with your present site, Although different ips are best ways to optimize your site.

It doesn't really matter as it is from different pages. Many IBLs from one page will be counted as a single link by the spiders. So concentrate on multiple pages.

I wondered about that. So, if you are a member of a blog community or forum, you only get one backlink even if you post a lot?

There is nothing wrong with it but the backlinks may be devalued slightly. - Ie; you will get benefit from adding that second link, but not AS MUCH as the first link.

All things being equal, you will get more benefit from backlinks on two different domains.

    Cheers,
    Dave

There isn't anything wrong with that, I just don't think it counts as two sites linking to you. It counts as one solid link though.

They count as many times as google decides to count them.
(If we're are talking about google here.)

Your sig could get you 1,2,3, 100,...1,000. They all have the
potential to be backlinks. That's why internal linking is so
powerful. But yes, the sig links juice here would be watered down
significantly. You can't water down the authority, IMHO.

Not sure why anyone would think that you get one link per domain.
      That makes absolutely no sense.

      No it wouldn't!
Even google has similar links. It is not some thing you have control over.
      Example:
You comment on a blog post. If that blog has recent comments widget it will display your link all over the blog, If that blog has 1000 posts you will get 1000 links from one site.

*It will drop once the blog gets more comments, but the point is google will not ban you for such things.

Put it this way, linking in your sig on a forum and posting 200 times isn't going to get you 200 links of equal value, and hasn't done since about 2004

But I don't know of any firm data on this - would I take high-PR links from several different Squidoo lenses? Sure I would!

All the back links will be good for the ranking position and moreover, the various website with high PR back links also must good.

By the way, anyone who has put links in a forum sig and then looked at their backlinks a few weeks later will see dozens of them showing up in Site Explorer, so there is no question of them not "counting" in some way. In what way, is the question. I don't really like it myself, it makes for a scrappy inflated link profile. I just use it for indexing purposes. Unless they are highly relevant niche forums, then I go for it.

Nothing wrong with it. Just if you have a lot of them at some point you will not get a lot of link juice from all of them as they will likely be low pr links. But, they all add up and can be helpful. Just as long as you are not getting thousands in one pop or something.

I agree with those that have said that it doesn't matter. However, if ALL of your backlinks only come from one site that will look weird!! You still need to diversify and make sure that you have links coming from a variety of sources.
