Some of the most common mistakes most ppc marketers make when advertising though Google Adwords are

1. creating un-targeted keywords

2. Failing to test and track continuously

3. Running low quality score keywords

    Low quality score keywords? QS is based on AdGroup setup/Keyword/CTR/Adcopy/landing page all of this affect the quality score, all of these go hand in hand and it can help or make the quality score worst.

    Please clarify what low quality score keywords are.

      The biggest mistakes I see are poorly structured accounts, i.e. a single ad pointed at a lot of different keywords that have been bunched together into a single ad group.

      Perhaps the worst mistake is sending tons of paid traffic at a poorly converting landing page. Metaphorically speaking, if you sling enough mud on the wall, some of it will stick, but most ends up on the floor. Better to put your mud in a bucket, paid traffic to highly converting landing page, and money in your bank.

    Simple mistake that a lot of people make is not having a contact us page and a privacy policy.

    Word on the streets is that you get google slaped for sure if you are missing those two pages.

    Every aspect of ppc marketing has to be covered or it is all a mistake, campaign setup, poor bidding, poor ad position, poor keywords, poor adcopy, poor landing pages, no negative keywords, no split testing, no daily budget that you can afford, no tracking, the list goes on and on.

    All of these objectives have to be met in order to have a strong and healthy ppc campaigns.

    - Leaving the default settings on
    - Not using exact or phrase match
    - Not tracking conversions
    - Not being relevant
    - Poor ad copy
    - No call to action

        Um - I prefer to have ONE per ad group (for search) - but you do it however you like.

        For content sure. you need ten or twenty keywords to train it.

            OAOK (One Ad One Keyword) is essential for campaign optimization. You get the highest CTR and relevance possible.

            You can manage this easily by using a combo of:

            Adwords editor and Winner Alert.

            Winner alert will email you every day with the winning ads and you just download AE and make changes.

            At the very least use Adwords editor and the auto grouper option to make sure it thinks you have them separated out enough.

              I partially agree , what you are talking is not as simple as it looks when ever you come to Adwords Campaign management .

              Your option is highly recommend , if only the keywords you are using are very few .

                I have to agree with james on this one, an adgroup should not contain many keywords, 1 to 5 keywords max with its own landing page if possible. All of the elements that I listed are the biggest mistakes that newcomers are making in adwords and all areas should be addressed. setting up an adgroup that has fewer keywords with its own landing pages helps avoid the google slap as well......

                  but , if you have large set of keywords , it is advisable to regroup them into smaller ( similar ) groups .

                    For several thousand long tails I would auto group them in adwords editor first then peel and stick them into single work ad groups as the winners are identified.

                    It is very easy to make wholesale changes with Adwords Editor.
                    Plus if they are similar then you can use DKI to modify the minor changes keyword.

                    When you get a few tightly contested words you will want to milk them as hard as you can to get more profit.

                    I go as far as breaking up the exact, phrase and broad keywords into separate groups for the money words.

    Also it is recommended to turn off content networks unless you have a clue on how it is used, or else expect your ctr to hit rock bottom and your QS will hit rock bottom.....
