Are Garbage Backlinks Worth It?

I followed a tip from a fellow Warrior. Basically what he said is go to your spam comments and search the whole text in Google and you will come up with blogs that are auto approve.

My question is, Are these spammy backlinks worth it? Will I gain ranking from doing this or will it hurt my ranking?

Here is a sample of an auto-approve blog that I posted a comment on:
Peugeot Mini Concept | Magazine1975®

Thanks for the replies.

Cheers,
Wesley

Sneaky trick but a decent way to get a few quick links. They might not be the best, but I think any link is better than no link! Keep in mind that 100 of those links might carry the same weight as 1 link from a quality source.

      ^ This

Like I always say...its a lot easy to throw 100 pennies straight out of your pocket at a site than to take the same 100 pennies, get in your car, drive to the bank, walk in, change it into 1 dollar, drive home and then throw only 1 dollar at the site.

After all that work, we both threw a dollar at a site...you just worked harder at it

Most auto approve blogs are going to be spammed to death and thus the backlinks are going to be virtually worthless from an SEO standpoint. While no backlink really hurts your site, a backlink from a page with 200 outgoing backlinks is not going to pass on much authority to your site.

What these kind of blogs can be used for effectively though is getting other quality links indexed quickly.

Yea I agree with this. Focus on the high PR backlinks.

What a lot of folks dont realize is that 1 single PR 5 backlink is worth a 1000 times more than 1 PR1 link.

    Hi Wesley,

Someone needs to be honest with you about the value of such backlinks. You placed your comment on a page that uses the nofollow attribute on comments. So that backlink will be excluded from Google's link graph. So no direct SEO benefit is passed.

Secondly, even if that page had not used the nofollow attribute, those backlinks would have little value towards ranking in the SERP. If you look closely you will see that the comments are full of spam likely placed by mass spammers. Search engines look for pages like these and lower or remove all trust, which eliminates the value of your anchortext for ranking.

Absolutely when the OBL on those pages is too much.It is like a wasted link.
Place the link in low OBL pages and if you posted in high traffic blogs even nofollow will give value.Mixing of dofollow and nofollow always good for organic seo

Yeah, just being practical. It would be much better if you have links than none. But If you have the chance to get quality backlinks, don't take it for granted.

Yeah, definitely do something worthwhile with your time that will achieve results. Quality trumps quantity when it comes to link building/backlinking.

  • Backlinks cannot hurt your site. Here is a video explaining why this is so in further detail:

High PR Backlinks (PR of domain) are the best to obtain, but low quality backlinks will not hurt your site; they just may not count as much.

"Garbage" links would still contibute to backlink quantity and diversity. It has been said that these measures are also used by search engines and could be beneficial.

I did a experiment on a test site where I blasted it with over 100,000 scrapebox comments. Did it help? Yes, a little bit. BUT then I did a test where I used scrapebox to find highly relevant blogs that are moderated with high page PR and low OBL and manually made blog comments. It required a LOT more time but it gave me a huge boost in SERPS. I only use garbage backlinks to backlink my quality backlinks as I was told that it would help. Can't say it has helped though.
Does anyone know if you backlink your linkwheel for example that it does make a difference in your main sites SERPs?

They give some value than nothing if there is some PageRank but if the source is highly "abused" by spammers you can expect it de-indexed even though it's an .edu source.
