What link building strategies have you had the most success with?

Before the change of the Google algo we utilized a decent amount of auto blogging. I am new to this and am trying to learn as quick as possible.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

    A few years ago I had great success contacting people in the almost exact same niche as my website. Except for deviating slightly so we wouldn't be competitors.

    A good way to get backlinks that is still effective is to write content related to your site (for example if you are building backlinks to a page about weight training, articles about this subject, gyms, football, rugby, etc. should be relevant) then including a link with your target keyword as the anchor text as the backlink to your site (not 100% of the time, better to do 80-90% so it looks natural) and submitting it to popular articles directories and sites like Hub Pages and Squidoo.

    You can try to boost the effectiveness of these links and make them more linkly to be indexed with tools like BacklinkBooster.com or by building profile links and blog comments to your articles.

    I have found that this still works well, but it is a bit time consuming.

    Hogward had given good suggestions to this topic. Moreover, one that I learned from reading on case studies from SEOmoz and Distilled is that, tweeting url can help index that url as well as rank it on the most appropriate keywords. This is not effective though if it is only you tweeting the url, thus your tweet must be retweeted, especially by people with higher influence.

    I found results before by article marketing, Still I find results. But you should be able to differentiate between a good article directory and a crappy one. Choose a bunch of high PR authorized article directories and build some beauties..
