hey all!
does .info domains are really "bad" for SEO? I'm just reading FAstAttackSeo and Craig says: "We prefer to stick to keyword.com, keyword.net, or keyword.org if possible, but we've also been able to rank for keyword.info as well (there doesn't seem to be any difference for the most part to Google)."
what is Your opinions and experience?

THX
Kristof

I think .info domains are not bad for SEO but they consider it less in competition compared to .com, .net, and so on.

a .info can rank just as well as a .com/net/org

its all about how you create the site not the extension

VERY true. I have several .info domains that are at #1 spots. They're not bad for SEO at all. They can even rank above exact match .com's if you get the right backlinks.

I am sure .info can rank very well if you work hard on SEO and backlinks.

I have seen some .info sites in high positions, but not that many. I expect that this may just be because they are not as popular as .com domains, for example, though.

I think the most important thing is to focus on good all round on-page SEO (not just the domain) and working hard to build lots of quality backlinks as gtk29 said.

It depends on how you optimize a certain site. Extensions are not major factor.

Yes, comparatively .info bad for SEO. Still you can rank but it requires more SEO than very .com/.net/.org

There some very few .info sites rank #1 but just search on google for some keywords and find how many .info domains rank!

Right, and that's why I have plenty of .info domains ranking on page 1 for their targeted kw phrase AND pull in traffic + revenue.

It's going to be tough to rank on page 1 for ANY kw phrase that has decent competition, regardless of what site extension you have. It has everything to do with assessing your competition and ensuring you on-page and off-page SEO structure is supreme.

If you're looking to build an actual brand, then .com would be more favorable; however for niche sites, .info work just as well. In fact, I ranked a .info on page 1 for a keyword that has 3 of the exact same EMD's (a .com, .org and .net) and guess who is above them all

Proper SEO and persistence will get you where you need and want to be.

    Hi,

.Info domain is good or bad for SEO". Now is my experience. Certainly, info domain is rank actually sluggish if we contrast to .com .net.

    Thanks!
