I'm quite sad indeed. My site, which was on page #1 for my main keyword, and was making almost $300/month got penalized.

It's been over 3 weeks now, and it's all my own stupid fault.

I decided to try and solidify my ranking and also rank higher for another related keyword. I found "Balk's Backlinks" and it looked promising. And I also saw some warriors mention it here.

Now this isn't a hate post on that service, however, shortly after ordering backlinks from them, my site vanished.

I figured it could have been dancing, and be best to just see what pans out.

3 weeks later, it's still gone, indexed, but might as well not be.

I want my site back, it was doing great with Adsense, now it's zilch.

Sad Panda

    How was you penalized?

    http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&q=site%3Asheldoncooper.net

I looked at your external backlinks on Yahoo Explorer, I then sorted by highest PR (pagerank) with seoquake. Out of the first 100 backlinks, you have a single PR1 backlink, the rest are a few PR0 & most are PRn/a. These are very low quality backlinks.

Your site is doing a Google Dance.

Create high PR backlinks, shouldn't take a lot of authority links to correct.

I wouldn't necessarily jump to conclusions, a lot of sites have seen drastic drops lately. I had a site of mine drop off the face of the earth from page one, and I assumed that google had penalized me and maybe deemed my site a "thin affiliate site" but now I think I was wrong, and I even saw my site briefly pop back up briefly to spot #11 for one of my keywords, before vanishing again. My advice would be to continue link building it may very well come back, and I think it is pretty rare that Google punishes anyone for backlinks, unless they have ironclad proof that you bought the links, much more common to punish for content, if they think it is duplicate content or of low quality, which I don't think is your problem.

Just because you did A and B happened does not mean B's result is a direct correlation of A.

Have you ever noticed how people drowning and ice cream sales are directly related? The more ice cream that is sold the more people drown!

If it was this easy to de-rank a site don't you think some people would do it to their competition?

Yeah, your website is still in the index, but is it true " Balk's Backlinks" make your website does not rank high again? I also found the repeated use of keywords like: sheldon cooper, sheldon cooper quotes, sheldon cooper facts, sheldon cooper iphone, that I've also been using such keywords and Google to remove my blog (I use blogspot) because it is considered a spam blog

Your website is doing the Google dance but your traffic decreased about 90 percent. Your website that is ranking for the keyword "sheldon cooper bazinga" moved up from position #11 from position #16. Sometimes website disappear when it gets a very big load of backlinks. Well, keep us updated about your website and let us know what happened.

I'd like to think it's just the dance, but its been over 3 weeks since anythings showed up in the SERPS =/

I could be just in panic mode and losing patience, I'll let you guys know what happens.

And I'm not blaming balks backlinks, I was just saying that this happened shortly after getting links from them, but you never know if it was something else.

I also found this site that's supposedly supposed to tell you if your site has a penalty, and every time I put my site in there I get two messages that seem to alternate..

Sometimes it will say "This site has a severe penalty"

And other times it says: An error occured: JSONObject["responseData"] is not a JSONObject.

Probably broken and shouldn't be trusted, but it doesn't do that for any other of my sites.

The tool is SEO Moves | Google Penalty Checker Tool

Anyway, thanks for the hint of hope that it still just dancing, but I've never had a site take this long. We'll see what happens.

Off-topic I guess, but how did you monetize this site? I am just curious, since I didn't see anything but the content on your site?

Instead of getting panicky try to continue the process of building backlinks for your site from high PR sites. I really don't have much idea about this penalty checker tool but I think there is nothing but the Google dance is happening with your sites' ranking. Anyway wait for few days more and then you can come to a conclusion.

Still not showing up in the SERPS for my main keyword "sheldon cooper"

I use to be #1 for this keyword in Google, Yahoo and Bing.

I'm still on page #1 in yahoo and Bing, but in Google I've vanished.

I lost 90% of my traffic, just goes to show how many people actually use yahoo and Bing...

I've been building some high quality backlinks, hasn't changed anything as of yet.

Anyway, I will never go near another link building blast ever again. This is the only reason I can think of!

This last week i had the same problem with a Disposable Email site i was on the 1st page but its dropped to page 3 trust me when you see a drop like that the old ticker misses a few beats but its stopped dropping,so i have to start building up more higher quality backlinks to start building it back up again.

Why it dropped in the 1st place i am not sure may have been Panda, just means i will have to work harder but it will come back with time.

Hope your site starts to get up again in google search and you start earning good revenue again.

I am not 100% sure how adsense works. It confuses me some. I read your post and saw that you linked a adsense site. I've been hoping to see some examples of adsense sites to clear things up for me so i was very happy when i saw the link.

I opened it an checked out the site. Its made me even more confused!!! haha. What buyer keywords can you have for a fan page?

Dont worry about dropping in the rankings. I'm new to this game so i cant give great advice but a keyword of mine tumbled quite a bit earlier in the week. But its just reappeared on page 2. So dont sweat it just yet.

It's always a risk to use the next best craze, especially if it involves auto posting your links (and you have no idea where), its always a great idea to find out where your backlinks are coming from before utilising a service

It's great to see so many people supportive of this challenge. I have been watching some of my SERPS bounce around for the last 60 days. I just continue to build backlinks manually and every now and then I'll buy a 100 edu/gov or social media backlink pkg. I haven't bought any large 1,000 link packages or pyramids yet because I have been hesitant about the quality.

I like Yukon's method (post #2) of checking backlinks. I just did the same for my site and exported the TSV file to excell. Then I pasted the backlinks to SEO quake to check the PR of each backlink. Great tip.

So how are things going, 36burrows? Did the site ever come back?

Also, a lot of people mentioned high quality backlinks as a solution; can anyone suggest a technique or service on getting higher quality backlinks?

You gotta be very careful with these network and companies offering you back links. Google is getting smarter about the traders and when they find out that you have participated then you could end up what just happened to you...Google has filters in place so if you all of a sudden get a bunch of links it will look unnatural....So dont follow the crowd who buy blindly without knowing...get SEO wisdom then act..I have been doing SEO for 14 years and see all these companies left and right...some are leg but lots of junk out there as well...
