Do Videos Give Backlinks????

If you make a video and upload to a number of video sharing sites like youtube, do they give you backlinks.

I understand youtube is no follow and lots of other sites do not have a clickable link in the description box so is video marketing only beneficial for traffic to your site and not for backlinking purposes, seo or an increase in the serps?

Any thoughts?

I would suggest using viral marketing to get direct traffic to your site rather than focusing ALL your efforts on SEO backlink building.

Youtube videos can generate a lot of traffic. 20% of my daily traffic comes from youtube videos.

Depends on what kind of website you are having.

I would suggest choose few big sites like: youtube instead of uploading on different websites and start promoting them.

This is way, you'll get PR, bakclinks and good traffic as well. Try it!

It's good to have some no follow links anyways. I use video a lot and almost always see a boost in both traffic and in the SERPs from video marketing. Plus you never know where your video will end up get you links from.

Yip, they certainly do. Stick to the big names though (Youtube, Vimeo, MetaCafe). Little guys aren't worth it.

Video is a great source for traffic and gets indexed 53 times faster than standard online content.

Uploading your video to video sites is the right thing to do, but be sure to follow a few simple guidelines:
      1. Always put the URL link in your description and be sure to add the 'http://' in front of your domain, i.e. 'http://videomarketingvideo.net'.
      2. Be sure to get granular in your keyword research for better traffic targeting and use them as tags on the video sites.
      3. Make sure your primary keyword is always in the video title.
One more thing. Be sure to install and submit a video sitemap of your site to Google. Why? Because Google will index your site as a video result along with the other video sites that you submitted to. How's that for instant ranking and link backs!

Research indicates that YouTube/Google very much factors in backlinks to rank videos. Has anyone tried using the descriptions in other video sharing sites (ie, Vimeo or Blip) to backlink to YouTube videos. Something like this would appear as the second paragraph the description of a golf video on Vimeo ...

If the site allows links in the description, is there any reason this wouldn't work? Might they have a filter preventing links to YouTube?

Of course Videos give backlinks, but most of them are nofollow, which is not bad.

Google owns youtube, keep that in mind.

Backlinks from youtube and especially if YOU are linking to youtube videos can get you ranked better and of course helps to build a natural link-structure
