Hello, is there anyway to undo seo?

My only idea is to change hosting and allow several days for the site to be down -- perhaps pinging the site as well? And if that would work, any idea on how many days to keep it down and would results be permanent? Thanks!

Why would you want to "undo SEO"?

Yeah, it's kind of an odd question. It's hard to say because some people buy expired domains because the SEO and backlinks are still there. It's hard to undo backlinks once they are in place.

The most you can do is just get Google to un-index the content on your site but I have no clue how long that takes.

    Thanks for the replies.

Mike: a deal went sour with a non-paying offline client.

Jay: great point. It is Wordpress site. Any chance that setting the privacy setting to I would like to block search engines, but allow normal visitors would do the trick?

That might actually work. Switch it to that then ping the hell out of it so the new tags get updated. That will probably de-index most of the content.

The way most subscription backlink providers do, is, they will 301 redirect backlinks to their customer.

The 301 redirecting of the backlinks is an On/Off switch, when a customer says "Hey I'm on page #1 in Google SERP, I don't need this backlink subscription service anymore". Then the payment stops, & the backlink provider hits the non-paying customers backlinks with the 301 redirect.

A week later, the non-paying customers site will drop like a brick in the SERPs.

The above comment is the reason I suggest everyone build their own links.

If your running an seo backlinking business I can see how a non-payer would think they can just take advantage of your business, & think they will get something for free.

As far as on-page seo If they change their passwords to their hosting, not much you can do about it, what's done is done.

Interesting, never thought of this. How exactly do those redirected backlinks work? You mean they build links for a domain they own and simply forward that linked domain to the customer's URL?

If you use robot.txt you can make sure that some of the search engines robots do not crawl the pages and they should fall off in time. Dont think I saw anyone say that.

If you want to block search engines then use htaccess and block search engine access.as it is wordpress site set option to block search engine visibility. This might take some indexed pages out of google.

Or the other option is to rank a bunch of sites ahead of them for their keywords. Then offer to sell them those sites at an overly inflated price.

In the future, I would highly recommend collecting payments upfront for work to be done. If the client doesn't like that idea, just find another client.

I definitely agree! I can be way too conscientious to properly do business -- in this case, collecting payment upfront. Lesson learned.

How much is your time worth? Move on or you're just compounding the loss.

Excellent point! I surely don't plan on wasting time on this.
