Google is the strangest company

I have had an adwords account for over 8 years and have run ads on and off for that time period. I recently ran a series of ads for one of my sites and then shut down the ads because I wanted to work on the landing page and offer.

This morning I received an email from Google stating that my account has been permanently suspended for repeated violation of their advertising policy. I went to my account and it had a red banner at the top that repeated what I said above and added "after repeated warnings".

What is interesting is that this is the first time I have ever heard from Google about anything on this account in over 8 years. There have been no warnings or contact of any kind.

In the beginning, 8 years ago, I was direct linking and ran affiliate offers with that program and had some slaps with high bid prices, but never a warning. I haven't run that type of advertising for at lease 5 years.

Of course, the email states that I can never have an adwords account again, now or in the future. They are not my main traffic source, but I would like to use them.

What is amazing to me is that a company that is so successful can be so totally screwed up about how they treat their customers. I just don't get what they are trying to accomplish running off their customers.

It makes you wish their was someone in the internet advertising space that could deliver the same amount of clicks that was somewhat rational.

I would be interested to hear how anyone else has handled this type of issue with these idiots (Google).

Yeah the sad truth is they don't need, or care about, small advertisers like us. It's possible to get a new account but you have to be extremely careful about it. New credit card, new address, new IP, new domains, cleared cookies etc.

If they alienate too many people, it will eventually hurt their business. Treating their customers in such a high handed manner will catch up with the big G.

I have had many problems with the Google Adsense team ...I can tell you that much. They seem to always throw many unexpected surprises your way.

I believe Google's "Bad Behavior" is due to an economic cycle. They've reached a point where they are so massive that they only want big time advertisers spending over 10K per month. If you're not there, they don't need/want you.

    This video will explain more...

Digital Marketer Official SIte | Digital Marketer

Now that video is a sales pitch by Ryan Diess (not an aff link) but I also believe it has a ton of great value to learn from there as well about the economic cycles of big business and where we are right now during that cycle.

    Hope you enjoy...

I finally found out what got me banned from Google. In 2003 I was doing a lot of direct linking affiliate marketing. I was testing a Clickbank weight loss offer. It didn't convert well and I deleted the campaign. Well, as you know in Adwords you never really delete a campaign. Recently Google has determined that this weight loss site is not in compliance with their terms and policies and have banned any account that is linked to this site even if the campaign is deleted. This happened over 8 years ago, that is a company (google) that is really on top of things. Eventually, I believe, this type of behavior will come back to destroy Google. Facebook is already gaining a lot of ground on taking their advertising thunder and stupid business decisions like Google does is only going to accelerate it.
