Care to share your social bookmark text? Look at the most popular bookmarks (try to ignore the spammy and obvious paid for ones) and try and see what they are doing differently.

I often use social bookmarking sites, but only to build backlinks. I don't expect to get any people visiting my site because I posted it on Delicious... Too many sites get posted on sites like this every day. Unless your site is destined to 'go viral' it's not likely that you'll get much traffic directly from this.

It is a good way to build backlinks though.

Social bookmarking should be a very small part of your traffic strategy. Work on SEO (ranking in Google). If you are going to be doing social bookmarking then create an account (the free version) at onlywire.com. After initial setup it will let you submit links to around 50 social book marking sites automatically.

If you're looking for traffic your best bet though is to devote your time to building backlinks and placing higher in Google for the search terms you want to target. Just read up a bit more, the information you need is right on this forum.

My suggestion:

Social Bookmarking links are mainly for Back links only, we wont get traffic from Social Bookmarking sites. However if you want to get traffic try to improve your site with adding huge contents, add some nice applications, it'll help you get traffic.

Focusing on one method will not produce great outcomes. If you want your site to generate traffic, do all link building methods and make sure that your site has interesting contents.

I agree with others who have said social bookmarking sites are mainly for backlinks nowadays. Not many internet users visit them. They will help you rank in the search engines once they are indexed though.

I personal;ly use bookmarking just tto create easy backlinks, never had much success generating trafffic by using social bookmarking before,but who knows maybe it can be done.
