Is the blogroll link dangerous?

I made a new website and I posted on many blogs of the same niche the same message, hoping to get a link in their blogroll and it worked for two or three blogs. After a while, the website's position decreased from 70 to 100+, and I couldn't track it with iwebtool.
Again, this time with an older website, I bought some fiverr gigs and obtained permanent links on some blogs (there were many links there, a vast ammount) but I decreased in SERPs, this time from 12 to 22 (by this, I lost 80% of the website's traffic and I'm really angry for this).
So, are the blogroll links really to blame or is it something I'm missing?

A new website was probably problem number one, too many links too fast but it will probably come back.

Fiverr gigs getting you backlinks on blogrolls with a ton of other spam sites is definitely a no go. You're wasting your time.

What you're really looking for should be an in context link on a high pr page. Those will help.

Never get blog roll links to a money site, at least not one you care about. Blog roll links are great for articles and videos but on a money site they'll just blow up red flags immediately.

Oh you just 500 links all from the same site, on different pages, with the same anchor text? That looks natural. Use blog roll links but be careful and be careful where you direct them.

So if some blog blogroll happy blogger puts me in his blogroll along with 50 other sites I should email him and ask him to take it out?

Sweet I am going to go buy blogroll links to my competitors websites so they drop in the rankings!

No link can harm or hurt you. They at most may not help you. I suspect it is more of a coincidence.

By the way, in-context links are always the best to have. So blogrolls are not necessarily the best of links.

          Correct.

Go penalize Hotel sites/Google/Jewelry Sites/Brands for interlinking all their sites on different countries which has 10 million pages + link appears on each page.

Your problem was probably with what you were doing linkwise, not the sites in your blogroll.

Google has depreciated the value of blogroll and footer links, being aware that they are favorite spots for paid and exchanged links.

SEO experts always advice that you create 'natural' linking patterns, having a bunch of links with the same anchor text screams PAID. (I recall the John Chow blog disappeared into obscurity after he enticed his visitors to all create backlinks with the same anchor.)
Normally a good percentage of backlinks will have the raw url for anchor text. Be sure to mix up your sources, including nofollow as well as dofollow links.

Too many blogrolls with same anchor links can be dangerous.
