When doing blog commenting:

Instead of using your keywords in the name field, Im thinking of just using my first name so it doesnt look like a spam comment.

Is this still effective?

I just want to get some backlinks to my category pages.

This would help right?

    When making blog comments, it is really essential that you will put you keyword either on the content body or as a name.

    Yes using your name will increase your over-all authority for the site.

    sometimes you will get rejected when using anchors but accepted when using your name.

    With most 99% of blogs setting comments to no-follow it is not going to make any difference what kind of anchor texts is used.

    It will cut down on your rejection. But you won't get that full credit for the keyword.
    You can make that decision after you evaluate the other comments to see what the website owner tolerates.

    Hello,

    I am a newbie over here and i came to know that Blogs are generally maintain by a a user for his personal updates and actions by a text ,event or video. You always remember one thing that you should take all the information about that particular topic which help you to post a relevant comment. Then it won't consider as a spam content.

    You won't get many dofollow backlinks from blog commenting, but it's good to do it from time to time. Reasons:
    1) having different backlinks (even no follow) appears more natural to Google;
    2) you can build good relations with your community, and thus create great opportunities for backlinks through guest blogging, reviews, inclusion into the friends' section, etc.

    Yes they are still effective. My clients still see results with these types of links. Remember to diversify your link building though for max results.

    Try to use your "Keyword" on blogs which allow keywordluv and try to avoid the same on blogs which don't use keywordluv. some blog owners will mark your comment as SPAM and trash them if they found keywords in the name field. so, your safe bet would be not to use them on each and every blog you comment on.

    I think that no follow will work. I made blogcomments to 90% to my own blog and in 6 months it has gone from a non existing webpage to page rank 3.
    So do blog comments. Vary the anchor text
