Getting Traffic Everyday from a Russian Search Engine

Kind of odd, I always noticed this yandex.ru site sending me traffic every day for various search results to my blog. I just checked it out and translated it with Google Chrome's translator. Apparently it's a Russian search engine, guess I rank pretty high there for a bunch of my blog posts.

I guess you never know where you're gonna get traffic from.

Haha yandex.ru? I've never heard of it! I always seem to find the most random traffic sources when I search through my analytics account aswell!

Guess all traffic is good traffic buddy!

Yeah, I have found some bizarre sites over in my analytics. Some of them I don't even see where I have a link through there site. Oh well, I'll take it!

I had a similar issue once from what was apparently a russian cloned version of my website. I had them change the layout soon afterwards.

Yes, Yandex is huge in Russia and has been featured on a bunch of tech blogs in the US recently for its volatility in the markets.

Great job on ranking, are you converting that traffic somehow?

I haven't had really any significant boost in subscribers this month, so I am going to guess no. I need to look at what they are searching for and see if I can retain them better.

I get traffic from there as well. Even to sites that are not optimized for any keywords at all, as their main traffic sources arent search engines

I'm not an expert or anything but you may want to check this... Bad robot behaviour on Yandex's side have been reported by many webmasters since last year. They say Yandex spider is consuming way too much bandwidth and resources. Hope yours is 'real' traffic tho.

That's pretty good man, you get traffic in the least likley places sometimes. Traffic is traffic though.

Yandex is not just a search engine in Russia. It's THE search engine in Russia; it completely dwarfs Google there (which has less market share in Russia than Bing does in the US.)

in Russia leader group of SE looks like this:
    1.Yandex.ru 60%
    2.Google.ru 30-32%
    3.Mail.ru 10%
Have experimented with .com .org .net and finaly .ru sites for ranking in Yandex, fight was mostly for CY (analogue of PR ) which Yandex gives to whole site, not only pages, recieved realy nice results with all domain zones listed.
