What's the average amount of time you spend on backlinking? And this is doing it without any type of automated bots and so forth.

I'm thinking about putting in 5-6 hours of backlinking a day. Will that burn me out, or is that just about right?

150 hours a month on 'backlinking' sounds excessive. There are other things you can do to promote your website.

Twitter and Facebook are faster methods. Especially if you have a built-up profile.

5 to 6 hours a day on the back linking seems to be a lot. I would say do about 1 hour a day on back linking and the rest promoting your business in other ways. You could be writing articles and submitting them to article directories, you could be adding new content to your site, you could be doing guest post on another sites.

What have you been doing spending so much time?

Will that burn you out? Yes
    Is that just about right?No.

The question being: Why aren't you using automated software? They can save you countless of hours. If you have a small budget - spend them on fiverr.com for some of the more time consuming work. Linkwheels, 2.0s, Senuke blasts, comment blasts, profiles, .edu backlinks, articles, etc you name it, there are people much skilled doing it for $5.

I've outsourced a lot of my linkbuilding work and that has freed me up to create other sites and businesses.

So, the next question being: Do you really want to work 5-6 hours for link building?

    Hope that helps.

Well that's the thing, is it bad to do automated software? Or if anything getting flagged by Google? I'm hearing all sorts of things so I need someone to confirm this. And does automated software mean that it's not organic backlinking?

5-6 hours isn't too much of a problem UNTIL I start building more websites.

Google has no way of knowing how your backlinks were created. Now do you want to do a huge xrumer or scrapebox blast to your brand new website? NO.... There are however ways to automate the process and save a lot of time doing smaller groups of links. Hell just setting up some macros can save you hours of time.

How you create your links does not matter, the quality of your links you create is what matters. Also you always want to think of your ROI which does not just pertain to your cash investment but the investment of your time. Is spending five hours a day building links really going to give you the best ROI on your time? My guess is probably not.

Automated link building is fine and VERY effective if you know how to do it.

Spending $10 on a 7,000 xrumer blast is a waste of money, yet if you take the time to set up a campaign on automation using quality link sources, then you'll really see the benefit.

If you don't want to buy software then just buy some blasts, you can get someone to do a SB blast or 30 .EDU links or whatever for $5 on Fiverr. Get a gig once a week and that should at the very least keep you where you're at if not improve your rankings (unless your term is buy cialis). Build a few links here and there but you are spending WAY too much time on it, and remember SEO is not overnight so its gonna take a little while to get where you want to be.

well, It's solely depends upon your keyword competition, If you are work on low competitive keywords 30 would be enough and if you are working on very high competitive keywords 2 to 3 hours would be fair enough amount

If you have a website through a partner of Google Adwords, such as GoDaddy, then I would consider using the free $100 of advertising from Adwords to promote your website as well. This should generate a solid amount of traffic to get going.

I'd give you two weeks before you get burned out and pissed off with your results.

I'd recommend outsourcing this work or following the advice of others in this thread and use Fiverr or backlink services on this forum and other popular internet marketing forums.

Don't waste all that time on only link building, you'll be extremely burned out within no time and it'll be a gigantic waste of time. Use that time to build out a valuable and worthwhile website.
